@ThickTowerDE@RelearningEcon Because the median better represents the avg Americans wealth. As the top 1% or 10% (rich generally) skew the data with their concentration of wealth.
@jaysburningroom@MarxoidNess@sigmahamster2 Which economic systems/societies? And you could very well make the argument that certain societies had generalized commodity production before it became generalized across societies. You can see this in David Graeber’s work.
The key claim here is transition to communism. The dictatorship of the proletariat isn't the lower phase of communism, but a transition to the lower phase of communism. It's in this phase that the DOTP already fades away because classes no longer exist.
@thelongmarch86@Gattungswesen25 Not suggesting you can erase class relations with willpower alone. And the rest doesnt even attempt to disagree with me lol.
Marx: here's my concept of 'value', meant to grasp how labor becomes socially valid only through the market in the context of commodity production.
Random moron: so Marx thinks value is a labor quantity totally independent of the market, except also dependent on it?? CUriOUs
Red Pen is an average ML-Dengist YouTube channel whose understanding of theory is far more impoverished than the poverty of philosophy which Marx attributes to Proudhon.
"Mao actually got it from reading Lenin's Philosophical Notebook on Hegel. "
Apparently, Mao misread Lenin's Philosophical Notebook! But also Lenin didn't always knew how to read Hegel either!
Also this whole talk of "primary contradiction" and "secondary contradiction" is made up by Mao and has no basis in Marx and Hegel's sense of contradiction in dialectics.
This is actually pretty correct. The Neo-classical (and by extension the Austrian) school served as radical criticism of many of the classical school’s conjectures.
Of noteworthy attention is the famous theory of value (prices = costs of production), the theory of speculation (“wasteful speculation”, “unproductive labour”), the theory of entrepreneurship (Smith puts them in little appraisal because they engage in ventures of “excess risk”), the theory of a long-run natural price, and the theory of rent which is viewed as a portion of the labourer’s produce and wasteful speculation.
All of these were criticised with the advent of marginalism (although Menger and Walras’s theory of marginalism is quite different), time-preference theory, a microeconomic consideration on the origin and fluctuation of prices and (much later) a theory of the entrepreneur. Hence we cannot view Austrian theory as a mere continuation of Smith and Ricardo’s.
Although it *is* very much worth noting that the *classical* school was often not internally consistent (Nassau Senior may have pointed out the importance of time-preference in entrepreneurship long before Bohm-Bawerk by acknowledging “abstinence”) and that there are much better “classical” heroes than Smith, such as Richard Cantillon and Ibn Khaldoun (although Khaldoun’s theory of value is also fallacious)
