When will Palestinian leaders ever apologize to their people? Today a senior leader in Hamas’s politburo, Mousa Abu Marzouk, conceded to the New York Times that had he known the extent of the damage and destruction to the Palestinian people, as a result of the war following October 7, he would not have supported the group’s decision to launch the heinous attack that resulted in the killing of 1200 Israelis and the taking of 250 Israeli hostages. He, like a few people within Hamas, recognizes the magnitude of the catastrophe that the Palestinian people face in Gaza and beyond and that Hamas, for all intents & purposes, is ultimately finished.

On the same day, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert revealed to the world the map of his 2008 peace proposal to the Palestinian Authority’s president Mahmoud Abbas, showing that there could have been a state on 94% of the West Bank, a divided Jerusalem, territorial swaps and an even expanded Gaza, and a corridor to connect the two territories together which the Palestinian president effectively walked away from by not saying yes to it. In the span of 24 hours, the irresponsibility of Palestinian leadership was on display to the entire world, whereby the lives of Palestinians were considered secondary in the planning of a major terror attack while the prospects of independence, freedom and sovereignty for the Palestinian people were squandered due to hesitation, indecisiveness, and failing to appreciate the limits of the Palestinian’s position.

This is the tragedy of the Palestinian national movement, factions, political landscape, and political society that always believed Palestinians were somehow going to be in a better negotiating position and get a better deal in the future. This idea that the Arabs and Palestinians never really lost in 1948, 1967, after the Second Intifada, or now after the disastrous October 7 fiasco permeates many facets of Palestinian political life, leading some to believe that somehow one day, conditions will allow for the full liberation of Palestine, the return of millions of refugees and their descendants to mainland Israel, and the end of the Zionist project that created Israel.

While of course Palestinians are not monolithic, and many wholeheartedly understand that Israel is here to stay, political leadership has lacked the courage to update the expectations of the public opinion and to tell the Palestinian people the uncomfortable truths that they don’t want to hear: the right of return is a fantasy that must be jettisoned; perpetual refugee status for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank is a hindrance to nation building; armed resistance has and continues to be an epic failure and a massive waste of resources and lives that result in more occupation and loss of land and opportunities; a Jewish state is a permanent part of the land and must be accepted for the Palestinians to have a free, prosperous future; and political adventurism and suicidalism can no longer be tolerated given the massive implications they pose to the average Palestinian who can no longer tolerate the misery of this failed pursuit of statehood.

Palestinian leaders across the board must not only recognize their failed approaches and crimes against their own people. But they must also apologize for their role in perpetuating a vicious cycle that, while beneficial to a narrow group of people who enriched themselves, has made a mockery of millions of Palestinians who need and deserve better lives and leadership. Transforming peace and acceptance of the Jewish state into a normalized and mainstream view is a courageous evolution that will preserve what remains of the Palestinian people on their land and give them a chance at achieving independence and self-determination.

Palestinian statehood cannot be achieved in spite of Israel; it cannot be imposed upon Israel; it cannot be screamed at Jews and Zionists around the world. Instead, it requires winning over Israelis and convincing them that Palestinians are willing partners to the Jewish people, able to cast aside their historical grievances in the pragmatic pursuit of a better future.

Change and transformation must begin from within. The problem is deeper than just Hamas; it is about transforming the collective mindset to undo decades of external interference, regional negligence, and internal incompetence. It’s time to reclaim Palestinian agency and responsibility to begin the future now.

sol has become home to the turbojeet. everyone is too skittish to believe in something. CZ is subsidizing random bullshit on his broken centralized chain and STILL NO ONE is bridging after buying 20 tokenized grifts of his dog, eth maxi’s are still gravedancing on 4% pumps that will obviously reverse, hyperliquid is cool but still doesn’t matter if everything else is just infinity bleeding… don’t even get me started on murad’s list (violinmurad.jpg).

bitcoin is fine and macro will continue to support it. but on-chain and alts are fully cooked for the foreseeable future. i don’t even feel like that’s an opinion of mine at this point, it’s just obvious fact.

i want a golden bull like the rest of you, but we have squandered our opportunity for pve prosperity to greed and grift once again.
