learn tensor calculus.
not because it sounds advanced.
because some realities are too complex for simple vectors.
• tensors → quantities with direction, magnitude, and structure
• curvature → how space itself can bend
• gradients → change across dimensions
• manifolds → surfaces that are not flat
• invariance → truth that survives coordinate changes
general relativity.
fluid dynamics.
robotics.
continuum mechanics.
deep learning.
tensor calculus is what happens when math stops pretending the world is flat.
it gives you language for systems where everything changes with everything else.
There is an autism lottery. Either you're autistic about something totally monetarily useless like sonic speedrunning, or you are autistic about something that makes a fuck ton of money like GPU schedulers
I saved my life by going to the psychiatrist to get medicated again, I stayed true to myself and my truth while being gaslit and blamed, and I didn’t drop out of my PhD program.
Honestly, I’m just happy to be alive with a good community. That - alone - is a huge achievement
When it comes to splurging on materials, the quality of the paper is the most important. The quality of the brushes are the least important.
Most important materials to splurge on in order are:
Paper > Watercolors > Brushes
Watercolor painting! Use 100% cotton paper that is 300g/m^2, a decent quality paint, and the brushes do not have to be fancy.
To start getting into this hobby, buy these three things:
Winsor and Newton Cotman 12 piece set
Arches Watercolor Pad
A set of watercolor brushes
@thejakenixon If there are classes that overlap, maybe you can do a double master's? I know someone who did a double master's in both mechanical and materials engineering because a lot of the classes that qualified towards both degrees overlapped.
