@_Why__Not__@_Senseal_@stupidtechtakes Even a game such as Diablo was virtually unplayable until a source code was found so it could be ported to modern systems. That's not as simple as you make it out to be, games from 1995-2005 are particularly bad at that regard.
@stupidtechtakes By that logic, there is no backward compatibility support on Steam - you're not playing old games as in the same game that came on a CD, you're playing a rereleased game the developer fixed so it could run on it and put it on their store.
@yourebadperson@thatbluenumber "consider it" = one employee taking an hour to figure out a setting that works decently. Such consideration!
And even that seems to be losing traction, it's been a while since I've seen a new game with an SD preset.
@Freezorg@yourebadperson@thatbluenumber What are even arguing about? The discussion was about getting developers to optimize for the hardware, and developers don't care what numbers Valve considers a success, only if there's enough potential buyers to justify the effort.
@Freezorg@yourebadperson@thatbluenumber It's not a market question, it's an ROI question. If you want developers to optimize for a platform you need high enough sales for developers to consider the cost of development worthwhile, and that usually means reaching an 8-digit sold units within 18 months after launch.
@JopeSane@Iskanzar@thatbluenumber Take a mITX case and stand it upright. That's how it takes up less space. The supposed target audience cares about footprint, not volume.
@Antifant_Troet@SuperdoucheDoge@TheDKReturns@thatbluenumber The only people who gives a crap about liters are miniPC enthusiasts, normal people only care about footprint and would much rather an SFF computer you can lay flat and put the monitor on top.
@thatbluenumber I find it hilarious how many people in this thread are defending the SM using the same argument "PC master race" people rejected in defense of consoles before Valve got back in the hardware business that you don't have to put it together yourself.
@yourebadperson@thatbluenumber When the Steam Deck has proven to have worse sales performance than the Wii U that was discontinued a few years after release, you're delusionally optimistic to consider the possibility of this one getting close even to the Xbox X/S in sales.
@yourebadperson@thatbluenumber Absolutely nobody will take the time to optimize a game for a specific niche PC build, just have to look how the Steam Deck is already struggling to run modern titles due to devs not optimizing for it (and no, a graphical settings called "steam deck" is NOT optimization)
@FuKalyar So what? The legal precedents so far rules that it's fair use to use publicly available files as training data; this has zero effects on third parties. That just shows EU bureaucrats are shitheads coming up with stupid laws to look good in the mind of gullible people.
@FuKalyar@DiscussKing@Kougeru Training an AI is not a service. It's using files consensually provided by the user and social media to gather statistical data.
@FuKalyar@DiscussKing@Kougeru The one who has to adhere with the GDPR is the one posting the video on the internet. You are not violating anyone's privacy for inputting a file you downloaded into a piece of software. Hence absolutely nobody was stupid enough to bring it up in legal proceedings so far.
