@8BitRay It was essential to their character development. Jax had already hurt so many people out of fear of being vulnerable with them, that they didn't realize how much it hurt them. The only way for jax to learn was to abstract, and see how much pain their actions caused
@sundaybambii@bustersw0rd_ Yea but Huntress Wizard is better. People see me with a Scott Pilgrim pfp and automatically assume that I like scott as a person for some reason just because I like the series lol
@EndorfiNya@Thisreddie if she did then yes it'd be canon I'd have no problem with that! :) I think viewing it through the fragile masculinity view is still just as valid since all the themes talked about regarding masculinity are still applicable. that is the beauty of art, it is very nuanced
@forgetmaenott i get that but then again, Jax and Pomni ARE the main characters. I wish we could have seen more though, if only the series went on a little longer we could have seen what you are talking about
@sundaybambii@bustersw0rd_ thanks, i have been meaning to change it though because its been the same since that show came out 😭 i just don't know what to make it
@LordEgg2@gingerdozer exactly. Most narratives leave questions because they assume fans are smart enough to answer them. It also keeps the show alive by sparking discussion
raises boys to repress their feelings which only leads to resentment of oneself and others out of fear of being vulnerable and showing emotion. It creates fear of "not being manly enough" despite emotion being the most human natured thing ever. (2/2)
People don't understand that nuanced plots have multiple different meanings and THAT'S A GOOD THING, WE WANT OUR ART TO SPARK DISCUSSION. Yes Jax's story is that of a transfem one, AND it is also a cautionary tale of how hypermasculine cutlure (1/2)
@sundaybambii@bustersw0rd_ Exactly. That open endedness leaves so much room for discussion and speculation, i just wish people could actual discuss and learn each other interpretations instead of yelling that they are right 😭
@SoullessSlides@Thisreddie Im literally not arguing against the transfem interpretation. I love that interpretation and love hearing people talk about it. Im just saying there are others as well. That's how narrative analysis works, multiple different lenses and interpretations. take an English Lit class
@Lalascake@HznCaue You dont need to relate to a character to like them. If you dont understand the purpose of a story with an intentionally shitty main character then pick up a book. Some of the most notorious narratives of all time are of shitty people
