@cashfIo There are arguments for crypto, but this isn't one. The US banking system is just lightyears behind many developed economies on speed. In the UK we can send a payment 24/7 to arrive instantly in someone else's account. Quicker than bitcoin's 10 minute block time. And for free.
1/ Very rough and speculative sketch of what I increasingly think happened at FTX as more info comes out…
The central question is where did the money go? Yes malfeasance and fraud is necessary, but at one point in the cycle cash actually has to go out the door
@Gloomstalker404 It's a pretty slow transition, as is tradition. There will be a long period of both Elizabeth and Charles banknotes so it's not as if we trash all the old banknotes immediately
In the pair trade, you're relying on two sets of arbitrageurs to do their thing at a period of acute market stress and the margin management is more complex. One of the pairs also settles in USDT which you're hoping to convert after exiting the trade.
However, the situation has now changed. A lot. If Tether is going to fuck it, it is going to fuck it in the next weeks/months and the benefits of a small carry are less.
While Wheat keeps smashing all time highs daily, it's not kept up with the rate of fertiliser - its largest input.
London Wheat up ~150% since 01/2020.
I've not gone back further than the last 14 days but the two pairs involved in the trade have always had their differences to spot in the same direction. (6/8)
In fact, being on chain you should be able to validate that the principal is still there. Unlike in a traditional Ponzi where that principal was paid out long ago to someone else.
