No. Face reality. A very large portion of those in poverty were born into poverty. As has been the case since the dawn of time.
The human desire to procreate will not abate as a result of any magical, mystical vision of economics that has never existed.
So, unless your “dreams” include sterilization of everyone on planet earth below your arbitrarily drawn line of economic security, poverty will be.
What is wrong with our country is that there are people who have been educated by a system that was controlled by the government.
That system created people who don’t know the difference between your and you’re.
So, while you want to blame “people like me” for what is wrong with this country, I will offer this thought to consider. To advance in society, to change your life, you start in your own head.
Then, you’re on your way to a better life
@RockChartrand There is no government program that leaves anyone better off. They simply leave people without hope and totally dependent on others.
That isn’t life
@sjam29@alpinegranite@BoxFreeThinker@UniteDyl@omgsidewalks Personally I don’t think success is measured, except perhaps in the number of people you have helped along your path in this life.
It must be the only real thing that matters
@iam_biglad1 Then I suggest you empty your bank accounts, donate all you own, and walk the path of Jesus Christ.
He cared nothing of earthly value because He knows, as we all should, that it will all one day be gone
That person then lives for no one. And a self-centered life is not worthy of the gift as the only reason why we are here at all is to serve others.
Our work is our gift to others. Family, kids, customers, people who count on us to be productive and serve. Yeah, even billionaires are grateful to those who serve them for their success is a collaboration. Nobody succeeds at anything in isolation
@alpinegranite@BoxFreeThinker@sjam29@UniteDyl@omgsidewalks There it is! The hidden bias. There had to be one to support the raging.
American capitalism has failed.
So, if I were to agree with you, (which I don’t), what has succeeded that should replace the largest economic powerhouse on the planet ever seen?
@omgsidewalks Nobody is a lot of people. Most everybody I know is working and taking care of their kids. Maybe not you, but if the path you are on isn’t working then a change is needed
In every “meltdown”, millionaires are made. Sadly, many of the people responsible for the meltdown are not punished as they should be. Probably never going to see firing squads, but criminal indictments should be the deterrent that keeps the heads of those with oversight responsibility with their eyes on what matters so calamity could be avoided
Yes, I get all of that. I was merely amazed that you shared openly your opinion of Tesla and SpaceX in this context. You believe correctly that subsidies distort the market. Gotcha. I suspect you believe both of these named companies are subsidized somewhere in their business models. That I don’t know. Hell! SpaceX just had its IPO.
Doesn’t change my opinion of what a person with such strong views should do to profit from the resulting market imbalance you claimed existed there.
Capitalism is all about profiting on these imbalances and I was merely pointing out the obvious actions for a person with such views.
That of course, only if your stated views were truthful or just raging against the “rich”, which is very popular these days with communists in our country trying to dismantle 250 years of success the world has never witnessed
