Kesha paid tribute to Dolly Parton with a cover of "Old Flames (Can't Hold a Candle to You)," a song her mother co-wrote and that Parton took to number one in 1980.

“For those of you who don’t know, I come from a long lineage of songwriters and before I was born, my mom actually wrote a song for Dolly Parton. And that song bought us a house, like a roof. That song put me through school,” Kesha told the Pittsburgh crowd on Wednesday.

One of my favorite Dolly stories is one Julia Roberts told about being on the set of Steel Magnolias. It was, naturally, very hot and humid, and Julia turned to Dolly and said, "Aren't you hot? With the wig and everything? Just, you know, just say it's hot!"

And Dolly looked at her and said, "When I was a little girl, I used to dream about being famous and rich, and now I'm both of those things. So I'm not going to complain."

May we all be so grateful and gracious when our dreams come true.

What a wonderful songwriter and singer Dolly was. She brought so many people together, we will all miss her so much.
