Last night’s on call in numbers:
107 patients, 59 physical spaces, 62 patients waiting to go to wards. 75 hr longest wait to get to a ward. 6 Major Traumas, 3 ventilated patients. 1 ED Consultant with 1 question “How would you keep this safe?”
The last 3 days have been pretty full on, and the #IntroToST3 Course is done for another year.
With departmental pressures and sickness with struggled massively with faculty this year, and everyone worked their socks off. Thanks all. #KW5years
24 years in Emergency Medicine and I think I am done! Struggling to see a solution, stay positive or provide the quality care our patients deserve. Hard work, digging in and goodwill won't cut it. Chronic underfunding, screwed targets and government stupity have destroyed the job
Remember a year or so ago when nationally we were all putting every resource into supporting our ITUs and the film crews were everywhere? Well, I’m going to put it out there that our ED’s & the staff working flat out could really do with that same support right about now too….
I'm a doctor. Current NHS pension taxation rules are unfairly hitting senior doctors hard with many forced to retire early/reduce hours. This crisis cant go on.
@LindsayHoyle_MP as my MP, please will you attend @TheBMA pensions event on Weds 6 July
Heathrow had pilots call in sick today, in a&e we also had high sickness rates.
They cancelled flights. We can’t cancel patients
This is what patient safety is so much more complex than aviation safety.
Dave Chung exactly this integration and systems leadership is the only way forward the reason I moved from ED to integration you guys are so awesome and the best team ever
