This is true. Season 1 had some gorgeous sets and costumes, as it should, but there are things they've learned to do and showcase better through the seasons.
Ok so I just rewatched s3 eps 1 & 2 in a row and Iโm even more convinced that everyone is either lying or crazy because the production values are clearly much higher than season one and it looks great and flows together so well
I feel like people don't understand that they HAVE that original coat in storage. They could have used it and done his hair like they often do on the show. They're making him look shabbier because that's the reality of Lestat's version versus Armand's hyper-romantic version.
@Syanidure there is that he is a human man wearing a coat that's a little more worn and has dirt or stains in places. They're not using the same coat, as they could have, because they're telling a story.
@Syanidure what I mean, people are confusing storytelling for cheapness because Lestat's pov is less romanticized or just different than Louis or Armand's. They had that original coat. We've seen how nicely they can do his hair. They could have made him look exactly like that. The POINT
@JAlJENSEN s3's RT audience score is currently higher than s2, and its imdb episode ratings for the first two eps are the same as season 2s (s3's ep1 is .1 higher than s2's, its ep2 is .2 lower). So I guess the general audience IS vibing with the first two episodes, by your definition.
This is the intellectual quality of people making these arguments. They're either truly stupid or mentally ill. Because apparently a .1 point difference means s 2's second episode is better than s 3's, but s 3's first episode being .1 higher than s 2's doesn't mean the same thing
@ifollowifwechat You're either lying or delusional. The CURRENT, as in right now, imdb scores for those episodes are the same as the scores for s2's first es. Look at it yourself. And it doesn't fly to accept critical acclaim for s2 and pretend those same critics' acclaim doesn't count for s3.
@ifollowifwechat Are you just trolling? Those are literally the scores for those episodes at this very moment. The same as season 2. Again, you are embarrassing yourself.
@ifollowifwechat last season's 89. I'm sorry this bugs you so much, but the reality is that the season is just as critically acclaimed, by individual critics from major outlets, as last season. Not sure why you're obsessed with Emmys, the show has never gotten any.
@ifollowifwechat ?? What does it being one site collecting reviews have to do with what the reviews say? The reality is that the reviews acclaim s3 as much as s2. It's the best-reviewed show of the year. On Metecritic, which collates "top" reviewers, the season has a score of 88 compared to
@ifollowifwechat if you are spending this much time not only talking about a show you hate, but repeatedly LYING about obvious facts because you don't like that this season is acclaimed so you need to make up things that aren't true, that is very sad and you need to get offline and touch grass.
@ifollowifwechat comparing comments on a show that's been out for two years on Netflix to a show that just came out doesn't make sense. I don't know why you keep harping on Emmys, I doubt the show will ever win one, but the reality is this season is as acclaimed as season 2. Deal with it. And yes
@theoceanblooms This. And I see ppl using Rolin talking about budget to claim it looks bad, and no, he said that's why they couldn't film more locations in a season that already has way more locations than they've ever had. Not that it impacted their ability to make things look how they want.
Yes. I'm literally seeing people go "why wasn't Auvergne more beautiful, Lestat hated his family but Louis was depressed and Nola was still beautiful, it's bad production values" and just....no, that's not how storytelling works. "More beautiful" isn't better production design.
โiwtv seasons one and two had better production values than tvl doesโ is just categorically false, thereโs extremely obvious green screen work in the scene where paul dies itโs just that people donโt feel the need to nitpick and bitch about it
@ifollowifwechat You obviously don't know how it works, because it's not "one site", it's dozens of reviewers from different sites, and they've watched six episodes, not two. Have opinions, but don't lie or get your facts THAT wrong. And it's never been about Emmys with this show.
@ifollowifwechat So far, TVL has a higher audience score on Rotten Tomatoes than season 2. And on imdb, the first two episodes have the same ratings as the first two episodes of season 2. So no, the general audience doesn't agree with you either. Get a life.
@obiwansrealgf has far more locations, which is expensive, than any previous season. But I'm sorry, anyone seeing a larger different in production design is placing pure beauty over storytelling. The care and quality are still there.
@obiwansrealgf with wigs and now this show, which has struggled with hair and wigs itself in the past, has so many wigs to deal with. But the costumes and sets are the same quality as before. Rolin talked about budget impacting their ability to build or find MORE sets when this season already
