My wife and I were supposed to be home tonight from our 15th anniversary trip.

Four kids under 12 are waiting for us. Our nanny has to return to work Tuesday morning. My wife is a teacher and has students expecting her.

Instead, it’s 12:34 AM and we’re in a hotel by the Miami airport.

Here’s what @AmericanAir did. 🧵👇

@AmericanAir UPDATE: It’s 4:05 AM.

We got a couple hours of sleep and we’re heading back to Miami International Airport now.

Still trying to get home to our four kids.

I’ll update this thread as we find out what happens this morning. @AmericanAir

10/ My wife and I should be ending our 15th anniversary trip talking about the memories we made in St. Thomas.

Instead, at 12:34 in the morning, I’m writing about my first experience flying American Airlines.

Our anniversary trip was unforgettable.

Unfortunately, so was the trip home.

@Charlie_Hebdo_ Is this funny?

Humanatee: The human effort to feed starving Florida manatees has provided the lovable marine mammals with more than 25 tons of lettuce. The animals have suffered a die-off because their seagrass food source is disappearing because of water pollution. https://t.co/WeDzU4gBdh

@Gladwell how can I get in touch with the technicians you worked with for the runaway cars podcast? My friend needs help with a VW Atlas airbag deployment while the car was off and she was in the store. Please help.

@Gladwell Your podcast on the runaway cars. People not pressing the breaks. Loved it. My friend drives a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas. She, along w/ hubby and two small kids, went into a grocery store. Upon return, their airbags had exploded while they were in the store. VW dealer

Last week I was honored to meet some of the thousands of Afghan citizens and families who have sought refuge at Fort Lee in Virginia.

I'm coordinating with DC and have made it clear: we're ready and willing to take thousands more. Virginia will continue to serve as safe harbor.

DMV Friends: 2,500 Afghans are expected to arrive and be resettled in the next few weeks. Lutheran Social Services (National Capital Area) has put out a call for those willing to assist in resettlement with their time, donations, and efforts.

Mullah Baradar was arrested in 2010.

In 2018 the Trump administration pressured Pakistan to have him released.

He’s now the leader of the Taliban and the de facto president of Afghanistan.

@rameshlaus @JoeBiden He solidified that he will be a one term president. Biggest foreign policy mistake since the invasion of Iraq.
