1.4~ years later, I have made small adjustments to the things you are officially allowed to like. If you like anything not on this chart, you must add a disclaimer that you are stupid and also wrong.
Approaching the end of a summer having contributed nothing. Wasted three months like I’m fifteen and powerless. Feeling young and agitated and unable to realize anything
@Loribzzz these kind of anecdotes usually signal to me that they know nothing else about the artist and like let's be real in a world full of abusers that's like a mild worst controversy
I do not even sincerely believe that AI is efficient. But there's a level of mental gymnastics in how we're criticizing the psychology of AI use, particularly for those who are well educated.
I am in no way promoting ChatGPT, but there is nothing, in theory, stopping you from getting the bot to give you the source and then after reading the source, deciding that you don't like the source.
All research, even with a library database, is subject to confirmation bias.
I need people to understand, AI can't read, it can't understand your question. It uses pattern recognition. If you're using it for research, its not research, its selective and biased results based on pattern matching, if there's no pattern it fills the blanks with false info.
Like let's not get into conjecture about AI, you can get them to cite sources. GPT has to be instructed to do it but Google AI (which I have seen against my own will) does it by default. Sometimes they're junk sources. The onus has always been on a researcher to throw out noise.
@TigoODonnell@Notcertaim that game already gives about as much leeway as it can to express yourself without destroying Ellie's character arc since you actually can do a playthrough where you only 15 enemies without any gimmicks. that people don't is kind of the point that killing feels better / easier.
@TigoODonnell@Notcertaim people have this fantastical idea that because gaming is about interactivity that means the choice dial has to be cranked up to 100 without any regard for what emotional effect providing a choice has and as if the power of interactivity isn't defined by its limits.
like I think Sam Altman should be locked up in a cell with the key thrown away but some of you are just progressives because it makes you feel like the hero in a fantasy novel
What’s insanely frustrating to me is that we know KNOW you get dumber the more you use gen ai. As someone who lived with intense brain fog for over a year and literally became dumber and still isn’t fully back to where I was, that’s a nightmare I would never willingly choose.
Its interesting how Spider-Man has overtaken Batman as THE Superhero. Does this say anything about the difference between gen z and millennial or is it just something else we can blame on Zach Snyder?
Mild tangent from your point
I think it's very funny the standards that white Americans will hold people to ("fix your own culture!") when most of them would be dismayed to be seen like an immigrant rather than an "expat" in other countries.
immigration debate will go nowhere until we all come to terms it is deeply inhumane to have such massive differences in living standards across the globe and expect people to just accept that
@souljagoyteller during my one film class, when they showed more abstract stuff, they were generally shorter films that happened to tie into more entertaining films. like Un Chien Andalou as a preface for popular surrealism. the full lengths were generally stuff to actually hook people in.
it's like saying "Twin Peaks isn't a soap opera, it's about the eternal battle and necessary balance of good and evil!"
like yeah dude but it's also a soap opera
@CodeDusq and like you know Parasite and Akira are not my absolute favorite films but Asian culture + Akira is cyberpunk and predates most prestigious anime films (and is a good representative of the broader influence of animation)
Citizen Kane
2001
Do The Right Thing
Un Chien Andalou
Playtime
Vertigo
Mulholland Drive
Persona
Sherlock Jr or Safety Last
The Passion of Joan of Arc
A Trip to the Moon
Akira
Parasite
Metropolis
Something by Godard
Pulp Fiction
Jaws
Battleship Potemkin
idrk beyond that
@CodeDusq the reason I'd prioritize something like Un Chien Andalou or A Trip to the Moon over whatever the consensus best film ever is that you can draw a link from those films to later films very easily since classes are all about history and theory.
