Stepping down “in time” is good, but better is giving up on the unconditional support for genocide, which is not worsening the health of a person but is murdering thousands of children on the one hand and worsening the health of hundreds of thousands others, mostly elderly people like you.
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.

When Brussels Mobility Minister @ElkeVDBrandt began curbing traffic in 2019, there were death threats, protests, and predictions of her political demise.
This week, she doubled her vote count and became the most popular Dutch-speaking politician in parliament in the past decade.
Today, former MP Hamideh Zarabadi officially entered the race for Iran's presidency, becoming one of three women to do so.
In her speech following her registration, Zarabadi praised the efforts of trailblazers like Azam Taleghani, who fought to secure recognition for women as "rajal siasi" (political figures), thereby making them eligible for political office.
Echoing a reformist stance, she advocated for a free press, the return of military forces (i.e., the IRGC) to their bases, and the release of all political prisoners.
However, she has a long shot chance of being approved by the Guardian Council. To date, they have never approved a woman to run for president.
I condemn Israel’s actions which killed scores of innocent civilians who were only seeking shelter from this deadly conflict.
There is no safe place in Gaza.
This horror must stop.
These people are not numbers. When we count them, they are not lies created by anyone.
You cannot dismiss them. You cannot dismiss even the rubble on our bodies.

I read this poem to Christiane Amanpour and it aired on CNN’s The Amanpour Hour a few minutes ago.
Thanks to the friends who shared their feelings watching me read it.
The full interview will be aired next Monday.
