publications. Prior to buying 2nd edition, the priest classes in the Greyhawk Adventures fascinated me, and I loved how the Cleric class was expanded in this edition.
I didn't get to buy the 'From the Ashes' set, though I do in a PDF version...

Although Birthright is one of my favourite settings for AD&D, I started with (and still love) Greyhawk!
The boxed set from 1st edition is lavish, including the iconic map!
Further details are fleshed out, more specifically about the Free City of Greyhawk itself, in the later two
@DungeonNoir The hardback book was published just when 2nd edition was coming out, so it has some specialist Priest classes in which were interesting. IMHO I think it works best as a supplement to the boxed set rather than on its own.
@YoDanno 1st Ed. Warhammer (Battles) had a Characters book that could be used as barebone rpg rules. Though Chaos as an alignment wasn't introduced yet, there were a couple more options : Avarice (with bonus xp for obtaining valuables) and Hunger (bonus xp for.... eating your foes)!
@KevinLamb74@WeeWheaton@ArneconTFotT I had started to do some overviews on the Birthright domain books in my X posts. I ought to jump back into finishing them off! :-)
I found Birthright versions of standard elf, dwarf and halfling races to be really interesting.
@KevinLamb74@WeeWheaton@ArneconTFotT Love it! Birthright is one of my favourite settings too, and similarly our gaming group at the time had dispersed due to uni/jobs so didnt really get to use it :-/
@YoDanno Yes! I still have my BECMI sets (though the boxes are a bit squashed)! I missed out on the physical version of the Immortals set (have the PDF), but did get the Wrath of the Immortals version when it was released! So many adventures were had with these books and a set of dice!
On the first attempt, it had run out of stock before I could buy, the second ordered from the US never turned up (I had a refund), the third took about 4 days to arrive!
It's a game for 1 to 4 players, I'll be opening it and posting more later!
I did go for one of the higher tiers, so the hardback rulebooks came in a faux leather sleeve with a great goat (Breggle) silver inlay, a cloth map and four small hardback adventures (reminiscent of childhood Ladybird fairytale books).
Last year, maybe early this year too, I supported three table top RPG Kickstarters. I received the physical product of the first of these recently, and I'm over the moon in the level of detail/effort/imagination of Dolmenwood!

@SandyofCthulhu I had to order a Lovecraft book in at my local small town library, after being introduced to your game by a friend in the 80's. The librarian was taken back a bit, but it was because she thought they were 'adult' books (in the non-horror sense)
It's been a while since I've posted anything... and life's been a bit of a whirlwind!
I managed to get tickets for the Black Sabbath/Ozzy 'Back to the Beginning' show in July! So feeling particularly lucky about that, even though I still need to sort out accommodations...
And
Our mobile phones once during the session!
We had some harrowing battles with goblins, wolves and a bugbear... but emerged from the goblin lair battled scarred yet victorius!
