hunger, poverty, substance abuse, alcoholism, and despair? How much more is the Eastern Cape and its embattled people willing to tolerate and explain? We continue mourning in cycles while the very foundations of our society are being dismantled before our eyes.
As the devouring flames at Botha Sigcawu die down, the ashes at Fort Hare are still cooling, and a chilling reality is taking shape for the Eastern Cape province. It is now no longer just a downward spiral. The province is on a freefall
How many more warning signs must we ignore?
How many more institutions must burn, literally and figuratively?
How many parents must face the unthinkable because they cant feed their children?
How many cases must go unresolved as the justice system is hollowed out? How much more
@karynmaughan@News24@dailymaverick I hope the journalists that General Sibiya says used to break bread with him and warn him about investigations into him will go there to do their jobs as professional journalists and not as covert agents and embedded brokers in law enforcement.
@Newzroom405 Nor did he refuse to do so. He is also not "just saying things." He is appearing before a Parliamentary structure investigating the selfsame matters. He is providing testimony.
@Newzroom405 The matter falls way outside of the Codes. General Mkhwazani's allegations touch on criminality, potentially treasonous acts even. You can't have self-regulation mechanisms dealing with such serious acts of criminality.
@Selbybok The admissibility or not of the evidence is immaterial in this instance. The journalist's objective to expose the anatomy of high-end corruption in government is fantastically captured. There is enough that law enforcement can find further IF they want to. Journos aren't police
@makate_nkosana All the best, Nkosana. You fought a good fight, and your story will live to inspire generations long after we are all gone. They will know that they, too, have rights worth fighting for against all odds.
@SodiyePetha@TMFoundation_ A lot of peer reviewed research, globally, concur with your last point about the recycling of liberal capitalist non-solutions to problems created by liberal capitalism
