Was at a Q&A book launch event for one of my favourite writers Jesse Bernard with one of my favourite academic friends Dr Joy White @JoyWhite2 with my other favourite music journalist @JAK_TH at my favourite bookshop @AfroriBooks.
Jesse’s book ‘Escaping Babylon: An Intimate History of Black British Music’ is out now and a MUST BUY for anyone interested in contemporary Black culture and music. The fact that the book is not London centric is even sweeter.
Really looking forward to reading this once marking season is over. Jak and Jesse made the book sound great and interspersing the interview with key tracks made for a great evening.
