Today’s game marks Assistant Manager Jake Cayton’s 250th fixture with the club!

The gaffer had his say on his assistant’s time with the club:

“Cayton’s commitment to me and this club is massive and probably underestimated. From the early days, after a horror injury cut short his playing career, he put in the work as young coach with the reserves and built his way back into the game. From the moment I asked him to step up and support me, he’s been phenomenal.

He’s been a constant support and a huge reason for the continued success of this club. His title may be Assistant Manager, but he is far more than that , he’s an essential part of the club’s structure on and off the pitch. There is no way I could manage this football club without him.

250 games is no small achievement. Yes, I’m biased because he’s one of my closest friends, but WTFC and I are lucky to have him. Here’s to 250 more, JC!”

APPEARANCE MILESTONES!

Today’s fixture marks both George Barnell’s and Charlie Green’s 100th appearance for Wellingborough Town.

George and Charlie were vital parts of our UCL winning season and key components of the squad that gained promotion to step 4 💪

📣 The manager had this to say about the pair:

“ I want to thank Barnell and Charlie for their efforts during those 100 appearances, it’s a great achievement for both.

Both are vital contributors to this clubs rise, both were part of our step 5 journey and subsequent league and cup double. Not only are they consistent performers they also keep improving every year. I think both are a great age that they can continue that improvement on.

I am proud of both to achieved the 100 milestone for Wellingborough Town and hopefully another 100 to come.

Special mention about Barnell, he was playing for me in my first ever management game for Cogenhoe United Reserves many, many years ago, truly one of “Originals” and played from UCL Reserve football all the way to Step 4 for me, is something that doesn’t come around very often!

Well done to both! “
