The @NWBearcat_FB team had 12 players gain a spot on the NFF's Hampshire Honor Society. Northwest was one of seven NCAA Div. II schools to have 10 or more players gain recognition. Northwest was one of 97 schools in all divisions to have 10 or more named to the list.

The @NWBearcat_FB program had eight Bearcats named Academic All-District as selected by College Sports Communicators.

Andrew Dumas, Jake Fisher, Shane Fredrickson, Langden Kitchen, Luke Mathews, Clayton Power, Chris Ruhnke and Jake Winslow each gained spots on the academic all-district team announced today.

The @NWBearcat_FB program had 56 student-athletes honored by the MIAA for their effort in the classroom.

Six Bearcats (Andrew Dumas, Jake Fisher, Hayden Jay, John Niesen, Jake Winslow and Holden Zigmant) earned the distinguished Academic Excellence Award. The MIAA honored 24 student-athletes with the Academic Excellence Award in football. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

Northwest had seven student-athletes gain MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors in Dumas, Shane Fredrickson, Fisher, Langden Kitchen, Luke Mathews, Clayton Power and Winslow. To earn the MIAA Scholar-Athlete award, student-athletes must post at least a 3.5 GPA and have earned all-MIAA honors. The MIAA honored 33 student-athletes with the Scholar-Athlete Award in football.

The achievement of Academic Honor Roll was accomplished by 56 Bearcat football performers. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The MIAA honored 399 student-athletes with the Academic Honor Roll award in football.

The @NWBearcat_FB team had 14 players gain All-MIAA recognition for the 2024 season following a vote of the league's head coaches.

Senior Jake Fisher (Smithville, Mo.) was the recipient of the MIAA Defensive Lineman of Year. Fisher was a unanimous first-team all-MIAA pick as he gained a spot on the league's top team for the second straight season.

Fisher was joined on the first team by junior linebacker Carter Edwards (St. Louis, Mo.) and senior defensive back Cahleel Smith (Independence, Mo.). Smith is only the third Bearcat to earn four first-team all-MIAA selections joining receiver/returner Jamaica Rector (2001-2004) and offensive lineman Red Graham (1924-1928).

The Bearcats had four second-team all-MIAA picks in junior wide receiver Luke Mathews (Liberty, Mo.), junior all-purpose back Tank Young (Overland Park, Kan.), junior offensive lineman Wes Merriman (Monett, Mo.) and junior defensive lineman Clayton Power (Stilwell, Kan.).

Senior offensive lineman Jake Winslow, senior kicker Noah Guastella (San Pedro, Calif.), junior returner Dominic Myers (Independence, Mo.), sophomore defensive lineman Langden Kitchen (Huntsville, Mo.) and senior linebacker Andrew Dumas (Olathe, Kan.) were named to the MIAA's third team.

A pair of defensive backs gained honorable mention status in junior Shane Fredrickson (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and senior Austin McKinney (Battle Creek, Mich.).

The Bearcats completed the 2024 season at 6-5 overall and 6-4 in the MIAA. Northwest has produced 29 straight winning seasons. It is the longest active streak among NCAA Division II programs.
