Did you know…
there are only a few thousand adult shoebills left in the wild, and their numbers are declining.
Every stunning shot like this is a reminder their swamp homes need protection.
Protect wetlands and make this bird enjoy its habitat.

The wild just got wilder.
With the successful translocation of 2 rhinos by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, Kidepo Valley National Park now proudly hosts ALL the Big Five.
Raw. Remote. Untouched.
A place where every game drive feels like it’s yours alone.
Did you know?
The Lilac-breasted roller (Coracias caudatus) lays 2–4 eggs, incubated by both parents for 22–24 days, with chicks fledging after about 19–20 days. Instead of building nests, they use abandoned woodpecker or kingfisher holes or natural tree cavities.
Highly territorial, they fiercely defend their nests from predators such as eagles and falcons.
This is a colorful, monogamous bird found across sub-Saharan Africa. You can find it at L. Mburo NP, QENP, MFNP and in the flood-savannah plains of Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve in northeastern Uganda.
Status: Least Concern (IUCN).

RWENZORI MARATHON- KASESE
@pbusharizi article today captures what our intentions were and still are.
When we started @RwenzoriMarathn , what charity are you guys looking at was the question!
My answer was is always simple, it’s a business that brings business to both kasese and Uganda!
While charity has its place, we all know hand outs don’t develop countries, cities or people.
Most people become incapacitated mentally, kills their out look to life, they wake up looking to someone who will save.
I have always urged that Ugandans simply need opportunities which spur entrepreneurship in them.
Marketing plays key role , we had 25 marketing trips in 8 countries across the world, they each cost between usd 10k to 35k. Things don’t just happen.
Anyone who has been in kasese during @RwenzoriMarathn will tell you, it’s a massive economic drive that week.
It goes beyond kasese, directly benefits surrounding places like Fortportal which hosts the second highest number of runners.
Food runs out, accommodation runout, fuel stations struggle due to high demand, Bodas make money, market prices skyrocket.
Anyone who was in kasese in 2022 and has been running the 4yrs, can tell the massive change that is happening to kasese.
Rooms have moved from 500 not so good then to over 2k rooms( still smaller than the demand), buildings started seeing fresh paint.
Accommodation facilities have moved from around 22 to 56 , numbers of the Rwenzori ranges moved from 1k in 2022 to 11k in 2026. Because we sign Rwenzoris everyday.
Families are transforming their homes into airBnB during the marathon, some leave to go to others areas so they can hire out their homes to runners.
@RwenzoriMarathn has just started, the global PR value is just going to continue, the monies earned can only go up. Especially if we offer more to runners.
Don’t forget, all the first @RwenzoriMarathn had massive setbacks of either rebel attacks or disease outbreaks but we didnt give up, we fought on.
Makerere university carried out research during this marathons and spend has moved from close to ushs 9bn in 2022 to atleast ushs 34bn across board in 2025.
If New York marathon leaves usd 1bn in the economy of New York annually, we would love usd 50m atleast earned by 2029 directly ( indirectly always more) God willing.
The challenge that’s clear is how do harness the money opportunities by selling more to runners so that they don’t go back with money they wanted to spend?
How do we replicated this across uganda? How do we create more events in kasese would be another questions? Of international level?
