In 2026, if you pay about 800 $ you can become a first author on a scientific paper
But some authorship slots sell for as little as $57 and as much as $5,600 or more
This comes from a recent study of paper mills(companies that sell authorship on research papers)
When researchers checked hundreds of ads, they found dozens of matching published papers. Only a few had been retracted...!
This is not just a few bad cases, but a growing market for scientific reputation on demand
Rich discussions with the research community at the University Abdelmalek Essaadi in Tangier
A special thank you to the Presidency of the University for the warm welcome and support in making this session happen in partnership with the CNRST
Looking forward to what comes next
