I know politics can be a sensitive subject for many as there are always a plethora of thoughts and opinions on the subject from a variety of different perspectives. I’m a fan of being curious of other people’s political positions, even though I may personally disagree with some of those perspectives from time to time. Agreement isn’t necessary to have respectful dialogue.
In the same spirit, I’m sharing a recent media appearance I had the opportunity to take part in about the presidential race, and specifically about RFK Jr’s decision to withdraw from the race.
Last Friday, you may have heard the news that RFK Jr (nephew of JFK and son of the late Attorney General Bobby Kennedy) a long time Democrat, ended his campaign and endorsed President Trump. Here is a perspective to consider about this event…

Don’t wait for the ‘Red’ or ‘Blue’ candidates to address the serious health crisis our society is facing today. Both of the major candidates are heavily funded by the very industries that are poisoning the population. It’s our job to become the experts of our own health and wellbeing. 🙏

I’ve lived through several elections in my life. An observation that I’m making is that speaking in sound bites is vastly different than talking about specific issues and what specifically can be done to address those issues.
I’ve also observed that when there is no vision to speak about, the focus of the conversation defaults to the candidate themselves. It usually sounds something like, “I’m good and they are bad”.
Here is the good news, we are capable of thinking beyond sound bites, and we are capable of addressing issues without creating a cult of personality or a scapegoat. This is our opportunity in this election and the ones to follow. 🙏❤️

If you find yourself belittling those you disagree with about politics or religion, it simply says that your ego is running the show, not you. The ego likes preaching to the choir for egoic purposes, not for the purpose of healing and enlightenment.
If your ego wasn’t running the show, you wouldn’t be so quick to cut off people who think differently or who challenge your own way of thinking. You’d be willing to have respectful conversation and even to agree to disagree.
As we move into election season, let’s get curious and conscious about why we are posting and sharing what we are posting and sharing. Is it egoic or conscious? You already know the difference.

@Stephen101984@krassenstein Censorship is one of the highest forms of violence in my understanding. If that doesn’t work, physical violence is usually next. RFK Jr has been actively targeted for censorship. That means folks are paying attention.
Lessons Learned From Dr. Martin Luther King Jr -Taking A Stand Is Vastly Different Than Taking A ‘Side’.
I recently had the opportunity to visit the National Civil Rights Museum In Memphis, TN. This museum was created on the site of the very motel where Dr. King was assassinated in 1968.
I am continually moved and inspired when I encounter leaders who refuse to approach the world from an oppositional or fear based standpoint. Dr. King understood profoundly that there was no one to oppose or demonize. He refused to play the ‘us vs them’ ‘good guy vs bad guy’ reactionary game that is currently reaping havoc on our national discourse and political system.
Although he was murdered as so many peacemakers have been throughout history, his essence lives on today and calls us all upward to a higher state of being in the face of violent polarization.
Dr. King showed us how to take a stand for truth without devolving into partisan side taking, fear mongering, and scapegoating. May we learn from his stand today.
Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers) famously said in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy that when tragedy occurs, look for the helpers.
Today, I would like to implore us to look for the leaders / helpers who are pointing us upward toward solutions and vision. Let us tune out the voices that are stirring up fear, division, anger, and outrage. There is no us vs them. There is only us.
