Why are changes in acidity so linear with changes in ocean pCO2? Here's a simple explanation, equation (2) of this recent Nature paper.

@matthew_vdh The new plot looks better but there remain very small differences relative to Fig. 2 in Egleston et al. Compare exactly where the curves intersect the left y axis.
Great new functionality for the python community! Your plot differs slightly from the original in Egleston et al. (2010) because of their typo in the S term. See the fix in seacarb and mocsy's buffesm function. More detail in Orr et al. (2018, Appendix B) https://t.co/UQ2LDrkgJM
How one small town at the center of the outbreak has cut infections virtually to zero: test all 3,300 in town, isolate the 3 percent who tested positive. Infection rate 10 days later down to .3 percent. https://t.co/5Tgpa7cCgl
2/2 These exponential #COVID19 projections are upper limits (black & colored lines). The grey line is a lower limit, assuming doubling rates in Germany (2.7 days), France (2.5 days), and Spain (2.1 days) could be immediately slowed to that now seen in Italy (3.6 days).
1/2 Projected #COVID19 cases over next 9 days in top 4 EU countries assuming same logarithmic growth as seen over past 2 weeks: Italy (19%), Germany (26%), France (27%), & Spain (33%). Data are from ECDC https://t.co/XQSASVWzbe Thin colored lines lag thick ones by 9 days.

This version includes South Korea. They were on the same growth curve til 7 days ago - ahead of Italy. The measures they adopted then (subject to the lead time in measurements) seem effective - still exponential growth, but similar doubling period to Japan now.
Here's the coronavirus data, overlayed with the dates offset by the amounts shown. One of these countries is not like the rest. Everyone else will be Italy in 9-14 days time.
