It has been 8 DAYS since the August 11 storm.

And thousands of people in Gary are still without electricity.

Eight days.

No lights. No air conditioning. Refrigerators full of spoiled food. Families trying to figure out where to eat, get medical services and simply survive.

How is this not a bigger national story?

Gary, Indiana doesn’t have power for the same reason Flint, Michigan didn’t have clean water, for the same reason Jackson, Mississippi hasn’t gotten state funds for necessary infrastructure improvements.

Gary, Indiana is 76% Black.
Flint, Michigan is 57% Black.
Jackson, Mississippi is 82% Black.

It really isn’t that hard to figure out.

The kid was just walking out his front door with his backpack on.

Cops were supposed to be searching for Kenneth Moore Jr—an adult suspected of stealing a car.

Police Chief said two officers’ actions are "under review."

Incident occurred in Canton, Ohio.

Four Black women have also been found hanging from trees in recent months — some so high a crane was required to bring them down.

Black people are being lynched in the US.

This is no longer a theory.

America has a long, brutal history of white supremacists lynching Black people and hanging them from trees.

These cases demand serious investigation.
