Climate change isn't woke. Or rather, it's a bit woke and there's nothing wrong with that, but that's not all it is. Political and business leaders urgently need to reject the lazy thinking that is trying to paint climate action as an elite endeavour. https://t.co/Z2nz8yEPfi
Two satellites have changed the game in the last 10 years for farmers, scientists, oil & gas companies, other companies.
They are the OCO satellites—Orbiting Carbon Observatories.
Used daily.
The Trump Administration has ordered one destroyed, the other turned off.
Why?

A thought from @James_BG Murray on @metoffice#climate report: its tempting to say we face a 'new normal', but thats not quite correct, because until net zero emissions are reached, global temperatures will keep climbing. The 'new normal' is getting worse. A lot worse.
This is entirely false. The £803 billion is the cost to Government of which the majority is more than £20 billion a year in fuel duty and other fossil fuel taxes not collected from consumers. Either this extremist does not understand or is lying about the figures.
If reports are true this will lock *everyone* - not just Scotland - into higher bills for years as we will spend billions switching off wind farms when it’s windy (rather than allowing them to sell power dirt cheap locally). A mistake. https://t.co/NHddz3F4NF
We weren't sure whether to post this thread.
But we decided to be honest about how tough it is to be a small charity working on climate right now.

Bloomberg @climate is always a good read, but snapshots like this on @GreggsOfficial not only reinforce the link between climate risks and financial impacts, but also brighten your day ☀️🌭📉
Meanwhile, the world's largest market is proposing a target to cut its emissions by 90 per cent against 1990 levels by 2040. What was that again about the UK being alone in pursuing net zero? https://t.co/mPmQe54Q30
Net zero by 2050 is not ‘impossible’.
Britain would not bankrupt itself by pursuing the goal.
China is the world’s biggest investor in clean technologies.
If the world does not reach net zero climate impacts will continue to intensify with likely catastrophic consequences.
Seems @CityAM + @Telegraph missed the key sentence... 'Our electricity price does not reflect the cheaper wholesale price of clean energy' (attached p.5) https://t.co/RcFNABwBU9
As we seem to, yet again, be talking about the hot UK summer of 1976, a reminder that the UK is not the world.
Yes, it was hot that summer over our small region, but the bigger picture tells a different story.
And, we've had hotter UK summers since.
Narrator: The report does not say solar was to blame for the Iberian power outage and Labour is not planning to 'cut our gas capability to less than 5% of our electricity supply'.
Unreliable solar brought Spain and Portugal to their knees.
Labour wants to put the same risk on us by cutting our gas capability to less than 5% of our electricity supply.
The risk of blackouts will rise if we blindly follow Net Zero ideology.
