Where is the historical study of Mary’s hymen?
Anyways, you’ve not addressed any of my questions and I’ve addressed all of yours. Who do you say that Jesus is?
A new “church” could open up that puts Jesus in the title and claims he was a 400lb sumo wrestler that body slammed Satan so hard he never got up again? Who you believe Jesus is matters
Show some evidence that Jesus is Michael? It’s simply not true. John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Refute Scripture.
The Second Coming already happened? Easily refuted. Mt 24:24-27 - For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Take note: I have told you in advance. So if they tell you, ‘See, he’s in the wilderness! ’ don’t go out; or, ‘See, he’s in the storerooms! ’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
The parousia will be seen by all - not a select few. Jesus’ return will be undeniable, and when he returns he won’t simply reside with 12 people in an office in NY. He’s not in their hidden store room.
The JW claim that Jesus resides with the Watchtower and gives them secret knowledge that they use for their publications. God in his infinite wisdom and foreknowledge refuted this claim in His Word.
As for Mary, she was a virgin at the conception and birth of Jesus and that’s all that’s necessary. I do not believe she was a perpetual virgin, nor is their theological need for her to be. Catholics do believe she was a perpetual virgin, but Mary has nothing to do with our salvation. The new pope thankfully affirmed that for the Catholics. I am not a Catholic though, but they make up the largest group of Christians.
Who do you say Jesus is? A created being? A mere man born as us and then ascended to godhood? Please back up your statements about Jesus with Scripture so we have a place to debate.
The Bible is minimized in LDS teaching in Articles of Faith #8 which states: “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.” The LDS belief allows one to shrug off a hard teaching of scripture that goes against LDS teaching simply by saying there is an error in translation whereas it states the Book of Mormon as fully authoritative all the time
@AZbroker@DataDInvesting Funny enough - the Pharisees issue is the same as JW and LDS. They worshipped a false messiah. One that fit their narrative rather than the narrative of Scripture.
The Pharisees did believe the historical and biblical Jesus to be a heretic.
This is different than the belief in a heretical Jesus. The Pharisees had an image of the Messiah that was different than the actual Messiah described in the OT. This Messiah would be later revealed in the person of Jesus.
To believe in a heretical Jesus as the LDS and JW do, is to believe in a Jesus that is different than the historical and biblical Jesus. I would love to discuss our differences on how we see the Bible describe Jesus as that is the root matter. Let’s move the conversation into Scripture so that there is more substance
The US provided in excess of $300 billion for weaponry, funding, and defense technology, including the current $3.8 billion per year it spends annually.
This directly enables wars to be waged.
This war was started directly through Israeli intel. US consumers are facing massive inflation as a consequence not the mention the threat to military personal in the region.
🇺🇸President Trump: says he's not happy with Israel's initial strike in Beirut & tells Netanyahu not to respond.
“Netanyahu will have no choice but to accept an Iran deal. I call the shots. I call all the shots. Bibi does not."
Few hours later:
🇮🇱 Israel strikes Tehran, Iran.
Either the US is continuing into yet another endless war like Afghanistan and Iraq or there is no control over Israel with a clear choice to still support despite it!
Either way absolutely horrendous.
This shows the opposite of what you’re stating. Whereas the study does show some Christian’s lack of biblical literacy, the study is very hopefully on these two points I’ve screenshot (pictured below). 98% of Christian’s affirm the Trinity. That is the antithesis of Arianism. Next, 100% of Christian’s view the Bible as the highest authority for informing their beliefs. They need to read it more, but they know it should inform their beliefs. Another major win that opens the conversation into Scripture.
What do you see as the highest authority for informing your beliefs?
Do you belong to a particular group like the LDS?
You’ll need to cite such surveys as that’s incredulous. Especially citing such a range as 50-80%. I’ve no need to discuss the Nicene Creed - I only need to discuss the canon of Scripture and the contents of scripture. Creeds can be helpful, but they are not authoritative.
A heretical Jesus is a different Jesus, one that cannot save. I can name my TV remote Jesus, but it can’t save me when I pray to it. I can pray to my neighbor named Jesus, but those prayers are worthless.
The skin color of Jesus is unimportant. He was likely olive skinned due to his geographical birthplace. But unimportant for salvation. I hope you can see the difference between skin tone and deity when it comes to matters of salvation.
Arius also believed in a heretical Jesus. Though the biblical canon had not been finalized, the NT letters and Gospels were already broadly circulated in large geographical areas. That was actually part of the criteria for canonization.
I wouldn’t strongly disagree that Jesus being a created and subordinate being is commonplace. There are only a couple of groups that hold to that (LDS, JW). It is a belief outside of the Christian consensus. If you counted those groups, you’d sit around 25 million people. That pales in comparison to the 2.4 billion Christians world-wide
@Dr_Crossroads I hope I’m as wise as you one day, Roy. I’ve been adding every month on the way down. I wish I could’ve been more patient with my purchases
