Jonathan “MrBallen” Allen is the storyteller behind the popular “Strange, Dark and Mysterious” videos and the hit podcast that followed.

Before the flannel and the campfire cadence, he was a US Navy SEAL. He enlisted in December 2010, completed the SEAL training pipeline, and checked into SEAL Team Two in Virginia Beach in 2012. He wanted the hardest possible reset after a directionless stretch in college, and he earned it.

WHAT IS “COM”?

“Com,” short for the Community, describes a broad and decentralized online ecosystem. Elements within this environment have been associated with cybercrime, sextortion, doxing, swatting, harassment, exploitation, and violence.

WHAT IS 764?

764 emerged from this broader ecosystem and has become associated with networks and individuals who manipulate and exploit vulnerable people—including minors.

These networks are not necessarily traditional organizations with a single leader or hierarchy. They can consist of interconnected communities, splinter groups, aliases, and individuals that reorganize or change identities.

WHAT IS NVE?

NVE stands for Nihilistic Violent Extremism. The term is used in connection with violent online networks in which coercion, exploitation, humiliation, and increasingly extreme acts of violence can become part of the culture.

🚨 HOW CHILDREN ARE TARGETED

Predators may encounter vulnerable minors through social media, gaming communities, messaging platforms, and other online spaces.

What begins as attention, friendship, acceptance, or an online relationship can escalate into:

• Grooming and manipulation
• Sextortion and blackmail
• Sexual exploitation
• Threats and humiliation
• Coerced self-harm
• Violence and other increasingly extreme acts

Compromising material can then become leverage—allowing offenders to demand additional material or increasingly dangerous behavior.

My generation often faced impossible situations, but we accepted the missions we were given. As stated in Isaiah 6:8: "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

We may not have been the greatest generation, but we are their proud sons and daughters, and we learned from them. I think we made them proud.
