Yesterday, Albanese told theParliament:
“I don’t go to the club.”

But there’s a video of him at Marrickville Golf Club saying:
“I’ve been coming here for decades and using this club.”

This is not a case of “I’ve changed my position” or “it wasn’t our modelling" or "the dog ate my homework".

It’s an open-and-shut case.

Albanese has lied and misled the Parliament.

The standards of ministerial accountability in a Westminster parliament are clear - Lying to the Parliament regarding personal conduct requires Albanese to resign.

Marrickville Golf Club, in the PM’s own electorate, received $6.05 million in taxpayer funds through an invitation only grants program that heavily favoured Labor seats.

Albanese held an undeclared honorary membership at that club. He claims he “didn’t know” and hasn’t been in the clubhouse for years. The club still had him on the books.

It can now be revealed that Albanese owns a multi million dollar former family home on Beauchamp Street, the same street as the club. Right next to it. He previously owned another house directly across from the course.

Local member. Prime Minister. Honorary member. Property owner next to the club.

Government running a closed grants process that funded it.

That’s a conflict of interest.

The ministerial code requires interests to be declared where a conflict could foreseeably arise.

He didn’t declare the membership.

Bridget McKenzie lost her job over less. Other leaders have been forced out for less.

Should ICAC or the NACC look at this?

Is this enough for Albanese to resign?

If this was a Coalition PM, they’d already be calling for his scalp.

Albanese has gotta go.
