All up and away nicely. 31mm yesterday will move things on. 67.5mm for the month so far. Nice to have new crops emerging bringing an air of positivity with them!
The last of the 2023 crop on its way out. Finished planting 2024 crop yesterday and back to winning ways at cricket. Proper weekend! Thanks to Russellโs for the demo Manitou 841. Cracking machine!
It seems there is a higher presence of grass weeds for the second year in a row. Are we losing the fight against grass weeds? Or have we already lost it and this is the norm?
Really happy with how our heavier land is looking. Num3 planted on Tuesday with 750A after a pass of Heva stealth. 26.5mm yesterday. 6 years no-till is really paying dividends for the soil structure. This field is around 25% clay content
@theladyfarmer Whilst the biology in manure isnโt to be sniffed at, I am trying to inoculate soil with N fixing bacteria. This may already be happening at small levels but I am interested to see to what extent I can do this with compost
@theladyfarmer I am hoping to reduce our N use. The starter I have my eye on is a powder which will be spread on the manure prior to turning. It has a range of bacteria which will fix N and make other nutrients available. Compost by Fletcher Simms and Acres USA is a good read if interested.
@bencm305 Would like to know how it hasnโt attracted pigeons! Starting to do a bit of damage to our OSR after a successful month or two keeping them away!
