Next up CITIZEN SMITH: The Weekend (Broadcast: 24/11/1977). When one of Wolfie's 'freedom fighters', Speed, goes to prison Ken becomes smitten with Speed's go-go dancer girlfriend Desiree and agrees to spend a weekend at a hotel in Bury St Edmunds with her.

Now for more CITIZEN SMITH: Abide With Me (Broadcast: 17/11/1977). Wolfie & Ken are evicted for the fourth time in a year... They have a place to go but need a stop-gap for a night so Shirley persuades her parents to let them stay in the flat upstairs.

Now for more CITIZEN SMITH: Guess Who's Coming To Dinner (Broadcast: 10/11/1977). After an exchange with dodgy businessman Harry Fenning in the pub, Wolfie finally gets to meet Shirley's parents for dinner where her dad makes it clear that he represents everything he despises.

Now for more CITIZEN SMITH: Crocodile Tears (Broadcast: 03/11/1977). Wolfie Smith believes the time is right for the citizens of Tooting to rise up against the Tory government though his placid, spiritual friend Ken is not convinced.

My brand new blu-ray boxset arrived today, so it's time to revisit John Sullivan's CITIZEN SMITH: The Pilot Episode (Broadcast: 12/04/1977). Wolfie Smith, Tooting's answer to Che Guevara, believes that the revolution is coming, though he is not sure when and how.

Been enjoying this crime drama series starring Sam Neill.... CAPE ROCK KILLER (Broadcast: 04/08/2025 - 22/09/2025). A cold case from 1968 is re-opened for jury consideration when a man is charged with the murder of a woman who was researching the case for a true crime novel.

Now for THE GENTLE TOUCH: Menaces (Broadcast: 26/09/1980). Ivor Stocker, a JP & successful businessman, is being blackmailed. Maggie is assigned to investigate the blackmail threats but uncovers a can of worms involving a young hostess & a bitter daughter.

Now for THE GENTLE TOUCH: Break-In (Broadcast: 19/09/1980). A burglary at the office of a solicitor who prosecutes for the police leads to a crisis situation between Maggie and one of her superiors, when the detective uncovers some incriminating evidence.

Next up THE GENTLE TOUCH: Decoy (Broadcast: 12/09/1980). When a series of rapes on women plague the area, Maggie Forbes must go undercover as a barmaid to try catch the attacker - but acting as a decoy places her life in great danger.

On Saturday I met Maureen O'Brien once again. I thought I'd surprise her with something different to sign - She played the wife of one of the main characters in an obscure 70's sitcom The Squirrels. She was happy to be reminded of the show, although had few memories of making it.

Now for THE GENTLE TOUCH: Something Blue (Broadcast: 05/09/1980). Maggie finds herself in a moral dilemma, when she stumbles across pornographic magazines in her son's bedroom & a Fagin-like criminal is employing young girls to shoplift for him from expensive clothing stores.

Now for another recent horror slasher movie... X (2022). In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in a rural Texas farm, but when their reclusive elderly hosts catch them in the act, the crew find themselves fighting for their lives.

Now for FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES (2025). Plagued by a violent and recurring nightmare, a college student heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle of death and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.

Next up THE GENTLE TOUCH: Melody (Broadcast: 23/05/1980). Maggie investigates the death of Melody, a local prostitute. Yet when she questions some other call girls for an insight into Melody's background, Maggie suspects that their pimp, Miller, has put the "frighteners" on them.

Starting off with THE GENTLE TOUCH: Rogue (Broadcast: 16/05/1980). A drunk lady in a restaurant smashes a bottle of champagne causing her to be arrested. She had been let down by a man called Harry, then Maggie recalls a case where a woman committed suicide & Harry was the cause.

Next up THE GENTLE TOUCH: Blade (Broadcast: 09/05/1980). A young man found murdered in the London Underground one morning has been stabbed with a knife. The nature of the crime points to a homosexual encounter - which eventually leads Maggie to a blazing row with a colleague.

Now for THE GENTLE TOUCH: Shock (Broadcast: 02/05/1980). When a woman is found dead in a 'love nest', D.I. Maggie Forbes is handed the case. She builds up a strong picture of how the crime was carried out, but further investigations lead to several shocks for the people involved.

Finally tonight... THE GENTLE TOUCH: Help (Broadcast: 25/04/1980). Having withdrawn her resignation, Maggie tries to sort out the problems facing Susan Scott & her daughter. What she doesn't know is that trouble is on her own doorstep - her son Steven has taken to drinking.
