@DailyHiveVan That school is called Sir Sanford FLEMING Elementary. It's wrong in every single reference and caption in the story, though the quote from the online petition and the overplayed writing in the aerial photo from the VSB staff report have it right.

I know it's early days and we still have a month to go before the election (although less than a week until candidate nominations close on Oct. 2), but I've already heard a few people complaining they don't know who's running and can't find any info about their ridings.
5 days after calling the election there are no candidates listed on the BC NDP website — there isn't even a tab in the menu for it. Google comes up with a .../team link, which just redirects you to the homepage. The site makes it look like the NDP is JUST John Horgan.
As of this morning, there are 14 confirmed candidates on the Elections BC website, 10 of which are running under the BC NDP banner. But you'd never know that from that party's website.

@CityofVancouver 600-block Nelson, parking meters have signs on them referencing temporary curbside signs for parking restrictions, but I see no curbside signs anywhere. Also, why are all the "sidewalk" parking spots on Granville Street in downtown taped off and unavailable?
The Vancouver Police Board has told city council it won't cut its budget by 1% as requested, and says one of the reasons is they will likely need to spend more money policing protests that are about the police
In the Vancouver Stanley Cup riots, a lot of the decisions to charge/convict young, affluent, white people were made on the basis of participation in the riot. Even minor acts like throwing something or filming or cheering were considered to be participating in the riot.
Quick thread:
Do you value journalism? Have you bought, or considered buying an ad in your local paper to support journalism?
Thank you! Many journalists' salaries rely on those ads.
But: If you buy an ad, I'd like you to consider doing one little thing.
Given the heated political climate, the need for positive vibes to take us out of our COVID-related funk, and the liberal not-quite-ironic recycling of the fashions and trends of my youth, I think we're perfectly poised for a Fouth Wave ska revival. #pickitupickitupickitupickitup
