maddie @lilacpallette i genuinely don’t think there is a single scenario involving iu where you wont somehow find a way to turn it into another edam complaint. we’ve gone from ads and banners, playlisting, international marketing, staffing, pr, legal, risk management, changing strategies, changing muas, telling iu to work with another agency, calling edam a dumb company, and even accusing them of “internal sabotsge.” somehow every new situation just becomes another item on the edam complaint list.
and what makes this especially funny is how the argument keeps changing whenever the actual information doesn’t support the version you started with. you said edam should promote the singles, then iu herself explained that the marketing team had suggested various promotional ideas and that she was the one who wanted to treat the singles as previews and save the bigger promotional push for the full album. suddenly it’s “i didn’t mean promotions, i meant ads, melon banners, playlisting and exposure.” babe, those things are literally marketing too.
you’re absolutely allwed to think edam could have done more independently. but that’s your opinion about what their strategy should have been. it doesn’t magically become proof that edam ignored iu or refuse d to promote her. especially when iu herself took responsibility for the decision regarding the singles’ promotion.
and honestly, do you really think iu is that kind of idol? she has been in this industry for 18 years. if you genuinely love and support her, you should know by now that she isn’t someone who needs her company to manufacture a huge comeback narrative around every single thing she releases. she literally explained that these singles were meant as a preview for the full album, not a formal comeback, and that she wanted to save the promotional effort for the album. why is it so hard to accept that maybe this was actually what she wanted??
you can disagree with the strategy, sure. you can wish edam had done more ads or playlisting or international exposure. but there is a huge difference between saying “i wish they had done more” and acting like iu’s own explanation somehow doesn’t count because you personally think the company should have done something else.
and this isn’t even the first time you’ve done this. you can see a positive result and still immediately find another reason to drag edam. you can see iu getting exposure and somehow turn it into “they should have done more”.you can dislike a mua and suddenly that’s another edam failure. you can see a chart achievement and still somehow arrive at “internal sabotage.”. at some point it becomes pretty obvious that the conclusion was already decided and every new situation is just being used to support it.
criticism is fine. fans can question an agency’s decisions. but when literally every outcome, decision, stylist, promotion, chart, or strategy somehow becomes another reason why edam is failing iu, maybe take a step back. because at this point you’re not just criticizing one marketing decision anymore. you’re constantly looking for something to blame the company for.
and now that iu has actually explained what happened, the least you could do is acknowledge that her explanation adds context instead of dissecting her words until you can find another angle to blame edam. you don’t have to agree with every decision edam makes, but you also don’t have to turn every single conversation about iu into another prosecution of her agency.
Now y’all blaming edam because IU posted a clarification? Stop being so hypocritical of course IU is gonna want to speak out in defense of edam and clarify that promotions, hair, makeup everything people are complaining about are her choices. Edam is her staff and team.
That’s it just like some of us Uaena were telling y’all who were complaining about the lack of promotions and blaming edam. IU is not a rookie artist that gets no say, no she is the one that gets to decide the direction of her music and she personally decided no promotions.
Y'all acting like IU isn't the one deciding whether or not she's going to promo things. It seems like Unknown Planet is much like Pieces and AFB 3 in which she is simply releasing it as a gift for us. For the last couple years she's been deliberately releasing with minimal promo.
@lilacpallette@edam_ent What do you think they should do to promote? I've been a Uaena for years now and it's fact that IU does not need big fancy promo to do above everyone else. IU herself has said she wants to release music without promo.
@IUAENA_402 Maybe it's IU's choice? I mean she is sick right now so there is not much she can do and also she herself for the lasr couple years has been outspoken about wanting to release music without promotions. Last time she promoted was Lilac.
@Fio_1917 I feel the same about the people on here who were making theories up after the break up about the co star, that she wasn't ready for marriage, that he liked her more than she did, etc. They are really quiet now.
The way IU has a way with words. It just goes to show how invested and how much her past love meant to her. Which is why it makes no sense when she was accused of things before, her lyrics just go to show that she was sincere and really really loved that person.
the way iu named the song 이 별로부터 (from this star) as a play on 이별로부터 (from parting) is so brilliant. it sums up the concept of a past relationship once being an entire world you shared, turning into a dying star you have to leave behind.
“everything we loved
i’ll leave it all behind here
and go far away
from this parting of ours
everything we loved
what was once our entire world
only now will i finally leave behind
this star that belonged only to us.”
I really don't get some Uaena... like weren't y'all complaining about the old stylist team, stylist Noh, for dressing her like a "grandma", but now y'all want her back? Y'all really hated on her so bad that she stopped styling IU after having been her stylist since debut
So glad they noticed but also looks like some new gen idols have forgotten basic manners, the most senior always go to the front in pictures and you make way for them.
IU sunbaenim was left standing in the back during the artist photo, le sserafim noticed then talked to the aaa staff and guided her to the front center aww my girls
