I was going to get it on PS5, PC, and Switch 2 on day one, but now that I know it won't get a fully physical release on at least one of those platforms, I’m just going to wait and buy a used copy (not brand new) for dirt cheap on either PS5 or Switch 2 whichever is cheaper. Sure, I’ll have to wait some time, but I’m not directly supporting this. This was one of the few games I still wanted to be fully on disc.

I’m not getting the PS6. If Sony drops physical media, there’s no real reason for me to buy one- that's been their only advantage in my opinion, but with most games now releasing across multiple platforms I’d rather play them on PC with better visual quality. I’ve never been much of an Xbox fan either. I’ll always buy new Nintendo consoles, but going forward I’ll likely stick with PC as my main platform and retro gaming.
Don't get me wrong, I don’t really have anything against digital games in general. I just didn’t appreciate being guilt tripped for choosing not to buy something based on my own preferences. FF7 is one of the few games I still wanted to own entirely physically. If Square Enix can’t meet that standard, they won’t get my money. Unless someone gifts it to me or I find it secondhand (not brand new) for dirt cheap, I won’t be getting the game.
