If someone tells you they're going to harm you, believe that they may try, in this case the assailant followed us down the street and told us he was going to 'poke' us unless we deleted the video we took of him committing a different crime 10 minutes earlier.

If someone acts like they have a knife assume that they're going to use it.

If you can get away without a conflict ensuing then do that, if you can't then engage initially from a safer distance and try to end it as quickly as possible.

Lastly, don't assume that running away will always work, other people also have the ability to run and chase after you, and if you have your back turned to your opponent they can do something you aren't prepared for.
