With stronger winds now expected than originally forecast and exceptionally high tides over the next few days, a decision has now been made to deploy the floodboards along Morecambe sea front as a precautionary measure. Promenade users should take extra care during this time.
Over the past month, six police dogs have been attacked in the line of duty, with one fatality. This demonstrates the ever increasing dangers that are present to serving police dogs across the United Kingdom. Yet, it is still not a regulatory or legal requirement for police forces to issue personal protective equipment (PPE) for example stab vests to police dogs, nor is it a regulatory or legal requirement for canine specific first aid kits to be installed within police dog vehicles.
It is unacceptable that this is still the case eight years after Police Dog Finn was stabbed in the line of duty in 2016. The lack of progress in upgrading the welfare support to serving police dogs is placing these heroic dogs in extreme danger, as without enhancements in PPE we will see more injuries and fatalities.
Therefore, we are seeking an urgent review by @YvetteCooperMP, @DianaJohnsonMP, @ukhomeoffice & @PoliceChiefs CC Gavin Stephens, @DonnaJonesPCC Chair of Association of PCCs to ensure that this is top priority over the coming weeks and months.
Just spoken to Tony.
He is devastated that someone has stolen his leaf blower, batteries and tools from the park.
Iโve managed to calm him down but if anyone has any information or knows anythingโฆ he just wants them back so he can carry on looking after the memorial
