Chemistry professor who likes to make really tiny rocks (a.k.a. nanocrystals). Mom of three, adventurer, keeper of chickens, and craft-a-ma-saurus. She/hers.
Does anyone have a favorite voice to text software that can handle scientific terms or learn them?
My right hand is going to be out of action for quite a few months and my computer keeps thinking that iron pyrite is iron pirates and a million other annoyances.

It is such an honor to be elected to the AAASFellows. I explained to my parents it as the "Cool Scientists Club" and it is a treat to be among many greats.
Much thanks is owed the wonderful mentors, students and colleagues I have worked with over the years.
AAAS is thrilled to announce our 2023 #AAASFellows! “This year’s class embodies scientific excellence, fosters trust in science throughout the communities they serve, and leads the next generation of scientists,” said AAAS CEO @sudipsparikh. Read more: https://t.co/k6XwOmKF9q
BEST RAFFLE WIN EVER. One of my freshman from last fall's writing course put my name in a faculty raffle, since he wasn't allowed to put in his own. I had no clue until I won! The fact that a student thought of me makes the prize so much sweeter! Thanks Joey! #givingday@vuartsci
Here is my latest editorial with @ChemMater on the "Rituals of Rejection" I do my best to tell the truth, but have a little laugh at the same time.

Sure, @RaySchaak we'll write a "little" perspective on phase control for your new journal. 165 references and 18 pages later, it is more like our group's Magnum Opus. And it is open access for all to read, right after you finish War and Peace!

I am considering resurrecting a 200 level "Nanochemistry" course that hasn't been taught for years. Anyone have a syllabus for a similar level course they'd let me see?
Getting this TOC image (and Figure 2) published will go down as one of my greatest achievements. The science is pretty darn cool too.

@JimPfaendtner I stressed about this some years ago and asked a big fancy chemistry prof and @JBuriak simply looked at me and said "Janet, just make cool s%*&." I've lived by that philosophy ever sense.
I going and I'd love to see you there!
