A formal salvo jure cujuslibet invocation has today been served upon John Swinney in his capacity as Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland, delivered today at the Scottish Parliament and issued to Bute House. Now on permanent public record:

I am having a drink this evening with a friend in a Chiswick pub. Two policemen have just come into the pub and asked me to step outside. I have stepped outside and they have threatened me because I tweeted about a councillor banning seating outside pubs in Chiswick. They admit on video (watch it!) that I did not break the law at all. They came to threaten me. To warn me off tweeting about councillors and the council. This is modern Britain. This is the police state. Please, please, please watch this video. It does involve me using very bad language, but this has got to be seen. Police coming out to threaten someone who hasn’t committed a crime. I’m fuming.
Just recorded an episode of BBC ScotCast on Peter Murrell, the SNP and related issues with @mmgeissler, was good fun, I believe it'll be on around teatime. Forgot to switch the light on on my webcam because I'm a dolt, so if you're watching on video maybe turn the brightness up.
Let me explain to you in very simple terms:
1. The misappropriation and spending of the £670,000 "ring-fenced" referendum fund was an open-and-shut case of fraud.
2. Sturgeon was up to her eyeballs in it, as were many other party leaders who took part in spending the money and then insisted it was still there.
3. If COPFS had charged Sturgeon they would have had to charge several other leading figures in the party, plus half of the party's governing body (the National Executive Committee), who have legal liability for the accounts.
4. That would have led to the collapse of the SNP.
5. The SNP is the British Establishment's strongest bulwark against Scottish independence.
I trust that helps.
Always remember when you feel sorry for Peter Murrell that his fate is deserved whereas he laughed as he colluded with others to try and send an innocent man to jail.
Oh I’ll do worse than snipe when it comes to misleading Scots about how this is done! (I don’t mean yourself but those who have a responsibility to know better.) There are three unalterable conditions which must be met.
1. Recognition by the international community that there is no union/UK or for Scotland to ‘break up’ which ensures we will not have a declaration of independence formally contested. (Which leaves us as a non state actor/not independent.)
2. A convention separate from Holyrood to make the declaration of independence. (Hokyrood may not do so under international law.)
3. A democratic event establishing the will of the Scottish people. (This needs to be restricted to Scots and people with a proven (long term) stake in Scotland’s future.
So long as those requirements are understood and followed, we’re moving ahead. When people fantasise about routes that do not involve any one of these they are misleading themselves and others and holding back the possibility of indy.
