Moving forward manifesto’s should be made a legally binding contract in order to protect the electorate from parties that lie just to get in power.
Brexit was not in Labour’s manifesto
Digital ID was not in Labour’s manifesto
Assisted dying was not in Labour’s manifesto
Jury Trials cancelled was not in Labour’s manifesto
Abortion up until birth was not in Labour’s manifesto Jury Trials
I could go on & on.
Manifesto’s should be legally binding
Who else agrees?
Given the ridiculous volume of Prime Ministers that Britain’s endured in recent years, I think it should now be law that if a PM quits or is forced out during his/her term, it automatically triggers a new general election. That might concentrate their minds to do a better job.
There is no mandate for the next Labour leader to rejoin the EU or anything else major outside their manifesto.
If they want to enact these policies they need to hold a GE.

British politics will reach a new reductio ad absurdum in the Makerfield by election:
Vote Labour to destroy the sitting Labour Prime Minister.
Support Labour PM Starmer but NOT voting Labour.
We are having a by-election not because there’s any demand or need in the national interest but entirely to suit the convenience of the byzantine politics of the ruling party and the political pygmies in whose interest it is run.
We are no longer a serious nation. No wonder the bond markets are squiffy.
James did PPE at Oxford, became a local councilor & then an advisor to Sadiq Khan
He has never had a job or hired people
He now runs the world’s 4th largest workforce & a £246bn annual budget
God help us
I submitted my tax return to HMRC one day late.
I was fined £100. And I didn't even owe them any tax!
Angela Rayner tried to avoid paying £40,000 stamp duty for nearly a year and could have been fined £8,000 by the HMRC after she recently coughed up the money, (shortly after being gifted £50,000 from a refrigeration company for 'Office Expenses').
She wasn't fined a single penny. No fine. No penalty. No comeback whatsoever.
Is it any wonder that us little folk are getting so pissed off with these freeloading, opportunistic, money grabbing, holier than thou, two faced charlatans?
Western society is currently divided between people who know this is a man and are prepared to say so and those who know this is a man but lie out of obedience to an ideology. There is no third option. Literally nobody on earth thinks "Roxanne Tickle" is actually a woman.
Labour created the monster of harvesting Muslim community bloc votes and yesterday that monster came back to bite them. As I've said many times before, we are a multiracial country, not a multicultural country.
If you stir up grievance politics between groups based on religion or race, as Labour have done for decades, as Reform are seeking to do, and as the Greens have done successfully in this by-election, you are pitting neighbours against each other and you start to unravel the culture of tolerance that makes Britain great.
Our country is not broken, but this by-election showed that Labour, Reform and the Greens are trying very hard to break it. Labour trying to buy people off with more and more benefits spending. Reform telling people you can't be British if you aren't white. The Greens running a nasty, sectarian campaign while simultaneously wanting to legalise crack-cocaine.
Clearly this election was not about who would be the best MP. But there was only one sensible candidate standing in Gorton and Denton, and it was Charlotte Cadden - a former chief inspector of police, a mother, a woman who fought for single sex spaces and dignity for women and girls. While the other parties race to the bottom, Charlotte embodies the new Conservative Party.
This result shows Keir Starmer’s premiership is finished. He lost authority a long time ago, a mere hostage at the mercy of a divided Labour Party that cannot decide who to replace him with. He has lost the support of his voters, his MPs and the country. He is in office but not in power. If he had any integrity he would go.
Imagine two families, each with three children. One set of parents work. The others don’t.
If Labour lifts the two child benefit cap, the working parents will need to earn £71,000 to match the family on benefits.
We shouldn't tax the hardworking to pay for the non-working.
Speaker Lindsay Hoyle was on a jolly to the British Virgin Islands when he says he learned Peter Mandelson was apparently a flight risk (unlikely).
No surprise he was in the Caribbean. Long been branded ‘long-haul Hoyle’ at our expense, spending more than £320,000 of taxpayers’ cash on foreign jaunts up until last summer since becoming Speaker in 2019.
He spent more than £200,000 on first and business class plane tickets plus tens of thousands more spent on chauffeur-driven cars, stays at luxury five-star resorts and restaurants.
During a previous Caribbean tour in March 2023, he shelled out nearly £5,500 chartering private planes to hop between the islands of St Maarten, Montserrat, Anguilla and Antigua.
In 2024, he spent £22,000 for a five-day trip to meet his counterpart in the Cayman Islands, staying at the Westin Grand, where his room was billed at £679 per night.
His snout. Our trough.
They really do take us for fools.
And that needs to start with @UKLabour standing by the pledges they made to #WASPI women before the election. That betrayal has cut deep and will lose Labour many votes as it did yesterday.

PSA to everyone in the UK: Anyone who tells you they are a "GMC-registered medical professional" must be treated as if they are a charlatan and a fraud. As soon as they utter that phrase, please ask to see a real doctor. It is a major red flag that you ignore at your peril
For context, it appears from the BBC Investigation that the Met Police were already aware of nearly 10,000 cases involving grooming gang activity against girls in London - run by Labour’s Mayor Sadiq Khan. Yet Khan tried to claim he didn’t know what Susan Hall was talking about.
Labour brought in tuition fees. The Conservatives tripled them. The result is a generation of doctors starting work with £100,000+ of debt hanging over them.
Interest rates are so high on Plan 2 loans that balances can grow even while repayments are being made.
I went to state school. I was the first from my family to study medicine. I graduated with around £75,000 of student debt. I’ve been paying it back for years.
Despite that, I now owe around £90,000 due to astronomically high interest rates on the Plan 2 loans.
That is not a system built on fairness. It is a system that traps people in decades of repayments for choosing a public service profession.
Medicine already demands years of training, antisocial hours, and delayed earning potential. Adding six figure debt on top of that tilts the scales even further against anyone without a privileged financial background.
If you come from a working-class background, the message is clear: you can come in, but you will carry the financial burden for decades.
This policy restricts social mobility. It entrenches inequality. And it weighs down an entire generation of graduates before their careers have even properly begun.
The system must change.
