@GarysheffieldJr@JeffPassan Likely yes. There will assuredly be some kind of grandfathered-in aspect to any deal. Probably will apply to teams already over the new cap due to pre-existing contracts signed prior to the (possible) new cap
@DodgerBlue1958@RolandAlph Agreed. Sometimes it takes hitters longer for things to click in the MLB. Took Miguel Vargas awhile, but now he looks great. Freeland's metrics indicate he should be producing better than he has - hopefully it'll translate with some time.
@bluegoon82@DodgerBlue1958 Tbh there is likely a bit of service time manipulation involved as well. They'll gain an extra year of team control as long as he stays in AAA through roughly June 21st, which is guaranteed at this point
@BlakeHHarris There is a realistic possibility the season may be locked out / cancelled next year. If so, that’s one year of lost player development for those minor leaguers. The problem of not enough roster spots may “resolve itself,” so to speak
@80GradeTweet@InfiniteDodger Right, I know. I am just mainly thinking aloud as to who would go to the pen IF all were healthy. But yeah, after seeing previous postseasons, I know that is hardly any kind of guarantee
@iamalexalvarez@InfiniteDodger Right, we don't. I was just mainly thinking aloud as to who would go to the pen IF all were healthy. I'm all for acquiring Skubal
@GoslinTodd@Socalfan73@BlakeHHarris It's funny to see anyone question Friedman. The guy has literally built a juggernaut and cobbled together a dynasty. He's probably the best MLB team architect of the 21st century.
@Howard_Cole I imagine they will slot him into the rotation after Ohtani's start next week. Lauer will probably start on Tuesday, then probably shift to a long-reliever / spot-starter type role thereafter.
@ChadMoriyama If nothing else, if he can work on his defense and become a plus plus defensive CF (possible with his speed?), then he becomes an excellent playoff roster spot player, in the way Dean was last year - late inning defensive replacement + pinch runner.
@Yamafan1107@katiejwoo Roki likely starts game 4, after a day off. If he falters, BP is rested. Next day will be Ohtani/Wrob, who likely can combine to pitch most of the game, helping the BP recover from Roki’s game
@bluegoon82@JeffSpiegel@Bnicklaus7 Stats are all about percentages. There will always be cases of failure despite employing the right approach. Good swing decisions and barreling a ball will, more often than not, yield good results, but not always.
