Physicist turned strategic & operational leader & advisor to Fortune 500 companies. I leverage 20 yrs' experience to help professionals level up their careers.
True.
This could also be sliced differently:
Managing high profile stakeholders.
Removing X-figure program bottlenecks.
Building high performing teams.
Finding the right talent.
Running effective meetings.
Etc. Etc.
Just a matter of zooming in to pain points you want others to relate to.
Relationships start in those tiny slices of life.
@ChrisLDyson A voice of sanity, experience and genuine willingness to help.
I'm surprised how few views it has. Hope it won't be lost in the sea of platitudes, gimmicks, hype and fads.
Protect this man at all cost.
I didn't intentionally steer my early career. I did what was expected of me (study, get a respected job) and made choices that came easy to me along the way.
So I understand how this slippery slope works. You eventually get to a comfortable position when you can just run on autopilot. Only to wake up a few years later wondering why youβre stuck.
4 countries, 2 continents and countless mistakes and dead ends later, I finally found out what works and what doesn't.
A big shift happened when I started investing in myself and learning from people ahead of me. Many coaches and mentors, some accidental some not, helped me unblock what I'd struggled with on my own for too long.
Now I want to pay it back and help others too.
What was it like for you?
"What else should I learn?"
The person asking me this has already invested in plenty of courses: Data Science, Python, SQL, Power BI. You name it.
I looked at his LinkedIn profile.
He lost his job of nearly 20 years.
It was a stressful position to be in.
It was also the push he needed to finally act on his desire to change the field.
But he was experienced in one domain and had nothing to show he'd be a great fit in another.
He overstayed his welcome.
No wonder he wasn't hearing back from recruiters.
What I told him wasn't exactly what he wanted to hear.
But you already know courses are not the answer.
When you compete with hundreds of candidates with a similar pile of certificates... do you stand out?
He was missing something more important.
He drifted through two decades of his employment and didn't leverage them to shape up his career path. To test his choices. To build bridges. To create a portfolio of results. To find supporters and mentors.
And now he had no choice but to sink or swim.
I told him how he could close that gap faster. And it's not through certificates or Udemy courses.
Successful entrepreneurs and senior executives have used these methods to figure things out and accelerate their growth.
But he wasn't ready for it.
"It's hard to study AND find the time for that", he responded.
It's not the knowledge that we need.
It's the flaws of our beliefs that we need to see first.
Which I wish myself and you all.
Good luck!
"Our identity and performance are always equal. We can only reach as high as our self-image allows."
Love this framing from @JanuszPhD
Our self-image acts like a ceiling to our potential, shaping not only how we see ourselves but also how we perform in our careers.
But the incredible thing is that our current self-image isn't a fixed limit.
It's a starting point for growth and evolution.
Our identities are dynamic and adaptable, not static or confined.
When we can rediscover and redefine ourselves beyond the boundaries of today, that's where deep transformation begins.
Thanks Cristina.
I'm an NLP aficionado. I believe words matter. Especially the words we repeatedly tell ourselves. They reinforce our self-image.
So the ceiling was likely established in our early childhood years, but it's us who keep it there.
For example, "it's not like me" is a deep seated belief about our identity. I hear it a lot from the so called introverts about networking. But that's a chicken and egg problem. And a self-fulfilling prophecy.
What I told him was personalised to his situation. But it touched on several areas.
For example:
β¦οΈ Five levers to pull to craft a unique positioning and stand out from the crowd.
β¦οΈ How I answer the most critical question every recruiter and hiring manager asks.
β¦οΈ How to build connections with people at the target companies the same week with a few intentional conversations.
β¦οΈ How management consultants perform research for their multi-billion clients and get paid 5, 6 or even 7 figures for the results... and how he can use the same approach to wow hiring managers.
And so on.
Any particular area interests you the most?
@aakashgupta Under pressure... all bubbles eventually burst...
It's not just about recession-proof skills, right?
This shows the need to look beyond what's trendy.
What's the demand?
What's the willingness to pay?
What's the business model?
We should choose our next startups wisely.
