At the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in New York, Ambassador ICHIKAWA, Permanent Representative of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament, delivered a joint statement on disarmament and non-proliferation education on behalf of 115 states, including Japan, the largest number ever. On 4 March, the Emperor of Japan’s Birthday Reception was held, co-hosted by Amb Ichikawa, Amb Oike, Amb Nagai, and Consular Chief Hagino. Approximately 430 guests from other Permanent Missions and international organizations in Geneva attended.
A New Year’s reception was held on 30 January, co-hosted by Amb Ichikawa, Amb Oike, Amb Nagai, and Mr. Hagino. Approximately 140 members of the Japanese community in Geneva attended.
Today, Amb. Ichikawa delivered a statement at the Conference on Disarmament in its first plenary this year.

22MSP of #APMBC, presided by Ambassador Ichikawa, was held from 1 to 5 December. The ceremonial opening was attended by high-level speakers, and the Meeting adopted the final report by consensus.
On 1 Dec Amb Ichikawa co-hosted a reception as the President of the 22MSP to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (#APMBC) at UN Geneva with the Mission of Switzerland and the City & Canton of #Geneva. Delegates and diplomats exchanged views, and enjoyed Japanese food and sake.
