@JaredDNP@FlaviaSepsis Respectfully, can't say I didn't warn you. The result...apriori obvious!
Even SOFA itself was so nonspecific for #Sepsis that in 1998 name was changed from "Sepsis-related Organ Failure Assessment" (SOFA) to Sequential Organ Failure Assessment" (SOFA)

@gbriddick Agree! Previous iterations of the sepsis definition were easier to remember and easier to capture patients. Operationalizing the definition by #SOFA score as the definers suggested in their article is unwieldy and is missing some patients.
qSOFA is poorly sensitive for #sepsis screening in Brazil with tremendous mortality despite low scores per @FlaviaSepsis#CCC49. How many cases around the world are being missed?
Very intriguing new #research from Flavia Machado (@FlaviaSepsis) and team, looking at the predictive accuracy of #qsofa in Brazil 🇧🇷 in a prospective multicenter study 👩🔬📈👇

@gbriddick While #qSOFA is a risk stratification tool, the operationalized definition of sepsis relies on an increase in #SOFA score. There are many issues with #SEP3.
@gbriddick@FlaviaSepsis You are correct. However, even at low qSOFA scores, mortality rates in Brazil were still quite high, calling into question its ability to risk stratify patients around the world or in low and middle income settings. Could this translate to different communities in US?
Thank you @FlaviaSepsis for bringing the disparities of #sepsis to light for low and middle income countries, and for low income, elderly, and underinsured people in high income countries at #CCC49
ATTENTION ICU NURSES: Do you have a min of 5 yrs experience and work clinically 1 day a week in the ICU? We are looking for nurses to join a Delphi study with the aim to develop a EU competency-based training package for ICU nurses.... https://t.co/7eeot3hs3S
@shanmanning Unfortunately our #media has become an entertainment industry, often of the style of Jerry Springer, and profits are highest with negative and dramatized reporting. This is brilliant! We might not agree but #UnitedWeStand!
Honoring a an amazing Nurse and the founder of the nurse practitioner profession. Thrilled to se her be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at #NONPFIndy2018 @NONPF

Nice review stressing that septic cardiomyopathy is an important contributor to organ dysfunction in sepsis
