On today’s “things I say in my classroom of 4th graders” we find “Life’s hard! Wear a helmet!” And “Don’t get bitten by the squirrel while writing.” This is how I reach and teach every one in my room. It works. Slightly unconventional, but kids want to show up to my class.

The ugly truth: in 45 minutes per day, I’m expected to prep 8 class periods with differentiated instruction, and have lesson plans written. So, in 225 minutes per week, I’m expected to plan and prep for 2,025 minutes of engaging, high quality academic inst & activity.

The hardest part of my job is having my students ask me questions about what is written in the Bible and not being able to provide them an answer because of unnecessary government over-reach. Being able to teach religion would solve A LOT of our problems in public education.
