We mourn the passing of Hall of Famer Bobby Cox, the fourth-winningest manager in MLB history.

Cox led the Atlanta Braves to unprecedented success, winning 14 straight division titles from 1991-2005, along with 5 NL pennants and the 1995 World Series championship.

The four-time Manager of the Year won 2,401 games overall, behind only Connie Mack, Tony La Russa, and John McGraw. Of the 13 managers with at least 2,000 career wins, only one (Joe McCarthy) got there in fewer games than Cox.

Cox managed the Braves for 25 seasons in all, leading them to six 100-win seasons and eight 90-win seasons. He also managed the Blue Jays for four years, including the franchise’s first winning record in 1983 and first division title in 1985.

As General Manager of the Braves from 1986-90, Cox laid the foundation for the teams he would manage to success over the next two decades by trading for one future Hall of Famer in John Smoltz, drafting another in Chipper Jones, and helping develop homegrown legend Tom Glavine.

Owner of a .556 winning percentage in 29 total seasons as manager, Cox was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2014.

He was 84 years old.

Elder Clark G. Gilbert (@ClarkG_Gilbert) is the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and ordained on Thursday, February 12, by President Dallin H. Oaks (@OaksDallinH) and the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Elder Gilbert, 55, was born in Oakland, California, and spent most of his childhood in Phoenix, Arizona. He has served as a General Authority Seventy since April 2021 and as the Commissioner of the Church Educational System since August of that year.

“This is an amazing time to point people to the Savior Jesus Christ,” Elder Gilbert said on Thursday. “When we do that, we can find joy and comfort and peace in Him. As President [Russell M.] Nelson once said, it’s much harder to find happiness where it doesn’t exist. And we’re so grateful that I have this calling now to witness that Jesus is the Christ. If people all across the world will look to Him, He will make their lives better, more meaningful, more joyful. And it happens in and through our Savior Jesus Christ.”

Breaking: The Chiefs have entered into an agreement with the State of Kansas to host Chiefs football beginning with the 2031 NFL season, the team announced.

The franchise is designing and building a state-of-the-art domed stadium and Arrowhead Stadium will no longer be the home of the Chiefs following the 2030 season.

President Dallin Harris Oaks (@oaksdallinh) was announced today as the 18th President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The announcement was made during a live broadcast from Salt Lake City, Utah. President Oaks was sustained and set apart today, October 14, 2025.

In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the prophet is chosen through a divinely inspired process. When the prophet passes away, the First Presidency is dissolved, and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, led by the longest-serving Apostle, assumes leadership, confirming the new Prophet through revelation and priesthood authority.

President Oaks, 93, succeeds President Russell M. Nelson, who passed away September 27, 2025.

The new leader of a global faith of more than 17 million members has called President Henry B. Eyring (@eyringHB), 92, and President D. Todd Christofferson (@ChristoffDTodd), 80 to serve with him as first and second counselors in the First Presidency, the Church’s highest governing body.
