@Cubs How did the Chicago Cubs go from two 10-game win streaks in a month to the worst team in baseball? They’ve become the least clutch team in 2026. They lead baseball by a wide margin in LOB and have the top two individual leaders (Happ, Bregman). Also 2nd-worst in BA with RISP.
@BaseballWRLD_ He’s a very streaky guy, unfortunately. He’s worth these types of hot streaks, but he disappears for very long stretches. It just sucks no one else on the team can get a clutch hit ever.

This is one of the best stories of the spring season. Props to @Patrick_Nothaft for finding it and telling it.

Just over 13 yaers later, this is still my favorite sports gif of all time. Miguel Cabrera was so fun to watch and the Detroit Tigers had one of the greatest hitters ever.
Verlander on his rehab start in Toledo:
“I got my volume up and I threw six innings. Those are positives, obviously. The home runs were not great, but I kept working on a pitch (slider) that they kept hitting. They kept hitting it. I kept trying to work on it in game and treat it a little bit like a spring training game, where if something isn't going well that day, you have the opportunity to try to hone it in.”
“I feel pretty good. Today was tough, the first real humid game I've had … and that last inning I kind of felt like a wet rat, but I was able to get through it and stay healthy. So, check.”

I hate to say I told you so about Framber Valdez. Guy had a horrid final 10 games to end last season and is not much better so far with the Tigers. He's over the hill in his MLB career and Detroit is paying him $115 million.
Framber Valdez stats in the final two months this last season. I guess he'll be a great fit in Detroit. I don't see why everyone is so excited about paying a pitcher nine figures who is well on his way to being past his prime.
@stevemiller24@RedWingDiehards How has Larkin prevented Yzerman from building something "real" so far? Yzerman's signed a lot of terrible contracts and made bad trades over the years. I don't think he's quite the builder you think he is.
The Detroit #Tigers are 4-21 in their last 25 games. It's been four weeks since they've won consecutive games. They are second-to-last in the MLB in saves (10) despite having the 10th-most save opportunities (26). Oh, and they're dead last in the AL in team batting average.
AJ Hinch is awful. Why do you take Keider Montero out on 65 pitches with the game he's throwing? So you can rely on the dumpster fire bullpen? The Tigers deserves to suck for the decisions being made out there.
