Ten years ago today, we lost a great champion of justice, equality, democracy, and profound decency. After he was released from prison Nelson Mandela devoted his life to inclusive tribalism, even including those who had supported his imprisonment. I was grateful for the chances we had to work together both in and out of office. I pray that the divisive tribalism practiced in so much of the world today will soon give way to his wiser course. I still miss him all the time.
