No penalty for the exaggerated claim.
No compensation for the time wasted.
No accountability for abusing the process.
Bad landlords should be held accountable. No question.
But tenants who abuse the system should face consequences too.
BC tenancy laws need balance.

BC landlords should be allowed to charge double rent when a tenant refuses to pay and forces the landlord to go through arbitration.
Right now, tenants can drag the process out while the landlord carries the mortgage, taxes, insurance, repairs, and legal costs.
There needs to be a real penalty for abusing the system.
