We all benefit from having local news outlets and this is a blow for British Columbians.
Journalism > Profits.
BC is going to miss Sportsnet 650 and AM 1130. I’m thinking of all their staff, producers, and journalists today.
@taj1944 You’d have to include all the money they are paying for people not to work for them. It’d be nice to see more investment now, I’m just hoping the frugalness doesn’t continue once the former employees come off the books.
@irfgaffar My hope is that they are such savvy communicators that they managed to avoid tipping their hand to the obvious changes needed to be made within the org. The answers/excuses around Foot though give me pause…
@taj1944 I found it interesting that RJ name checked Gillis near the beginning. Hopefully that indicates the level he aspires to build the organization out to. Have the Canucks once again become a leading org. when it comes to innovation and sports science.
@CodySevertson Everything that Rutherford said today should be filtered through what we’ve come to know about the Aquilini ownership. I truly hope that when he finally retires he’s frank and open about what it was like trying to run a team with for this ownership
@taj1944 Smells like more ownership penny pinching: don’t want to pay more people to not work for them. To go from 1st class, cutting edge org 15 years ago, to everything being half-assed and short-cutted, it’s depressing being a Canucks fan cause you cant even picture a brighter future.
