This is Marc Lunsford's timeline at Arizona. Keep in mind that he came to Arizona as a high-profile QB from Bloomington, Ind., recruited by Jim Young. He was on the bench more than he played throughout his four years as a player. He stuck it out. After leaving to Purdue to be an assistant for one year under Young, he returned and was a constant on the staffs of Larry Smith and Dick Tomey -- the lone coach to stay at Arizona with Tomey and not leave with Smith to USC. He stayed until 2000. That's perseverance and dedication to the fullest. Arizona should have the Marc Lunsford Perseverance Award for a player who sticks it out with the program throughout their careers through the hard times.

The large outpouring on social media of thoughts, prayers, and personal stories regarding former Arizona QB and longtime assistant Marc Lunsford, who is in hospice care, shows that a strong connection to the Wildcats' football past still exists.
