It was an honour to host @CGJapanSydney Shuichi Tokuda, the Consul-General of Japan in Sydney, alongside @JAWestacott AO, Chief Executive of the @BCAcomau for an important meeting with GWS business leaders
It was a privilege to co-convene the India-Australia CEO forum alongside @FollowCII, bringing together some of the most senior business and political leaders from both our nations.
On Saturday we celebrated the formal installation of Professor @JAWestacott AO as the 4th Chancellor of Western. Professor Westacott is committed to Western's values & will be a passionate advocate for the University, its region and its people 👏
@JacquiLambie @ja Thanks for your well wishes as we plan for the future at @BCAcomau. I’ve appreciated the honesty, integrity and passion you have for the country and those who don’t always get heard. For the time being, I will continue to work tirelessly for long-term growth and prosperity.
We also have an obligation to create mentally safe workplaces and look at how we can design jobs differently to better support the overall mental wellbeing of our teams.
It is time for us to stop thinking about mental health only in the context of the pandemic and start thinking about how the system could be improved to better support people living with mental illness.
Stigma around mental health still exists, and as leaders we need to do more to create an environment where people feel safe about disclosing or managing their mental illness at work.
To avoid missing opportunities, we need coordination between state and federal governments and business so this is in the DNA of companies and the soul of the economy.
When we think about regionalisation, we need to think about population differently. It’s not just about numbers. Businesses want skilled workers. We are seeing shortages in every sector. We need to make sure we have the right people for the right jobs.
Keeping unemployment low and sustaining wages growth will be a major challenge. Australia must drive stronger economic performance by making itself more competitive, boosting productivity, and attracting new investment.
Business, unions and civil society groups agree that a strong Australia is one that sees the benefits of a stronger and more productive, competitive economy shared in better jobs, growing wages and the ability of all Australians to get ahead.
5 things we need to become a #frontier#nation:
1️⃣ Secure our industrial base
2️⃣ Focus on the skills and capabilities of our people
3️⃣ Unleash the potential of our regions
4️⃣ Strengthen national security
5️⃣ Be able to pay our own way with a resilient budget
