Summer is coming so the weather in Wisconsin is starting to get warmer! But because season depend on the tilt of the Earth, winter is coming for the countries that are on the other side of the world. #apesair@franklinlorax
this is a great was for us to take the things we learned in class and use them in our everyday items that we have in our house! it also makes us think of small ways we can save energy!
I have a desk lamp and on the bottom, you can see all of its details -- you can read that it uses 4.5 watts. Watts is a unit of energy, and light energy emitted through the lightbulb (kinetic energy) is derived from coal (as potential energy). @franklinlorax#apesenergy
I make sure to turn the lights off every time I leave a room. By doing this I make sure to save energy so we don’t have to burn at much coal. #apesenergy@franklinlorax
these are trees i have in my yard that provide natural habitat for animals and release oxygen into the air. it is important that if my family ever wanted to cut the trees down we make sure to replace them with new trees to keep our environment sustainable #apesland@franklinlorax
public land in WI is essential as it provides an economic boost, a source of clean air and water, protects vulnerable wildlife, etc. !!!! 😄@franklinlorax#apesland
i also live in an area that has low density housing! with low density housing not be as sustainable it is extra important that we do our part to leave a smaller ecological footprint.
Jaycee is going to the desert for four days😮 Bringing trail mixes is a great way to satisfy her hunger due to the high calorie count that it contains!!! #apespop@franklinlorax
Although at the moment it is under about a foot and a half of snow, one way that my family reduces our ecological footprint is through maintaining a small garden in our backyard. This helps reduce carbon emissions from food transportation. #apespop@franklinlorax
If everyone lived like me we would use 4.8 Earths worth of resources. Knowing that we only have one Earths worth of resources I need to make some changes. I have decided that I am going to try to carpool more and try to use less electricity! @franklinlorax#apespop
My dog is an example of a K-strategist. K-strategists produce less offspring and are great at nurturing their young, unlike R-strategists which produce more offspring and provide less care! @franklinlorax#apeseco
Even though temperatures can get very cold in Wisconsin, I am glad that I live in a temperate forest biome. Living here means we experience all four seasons! #apeseco@franklinlorax
My friends and I are k-strategists. We have higher parental care and protection over our offspring. We also have fever offspring with a higher survival rate. #apeseco@franklinlorax
Roads and sidewalks are useful for transportation, but these paved surfaces are often impermeable, meaning that water cannot infiltrate through these surfaces, thus, increasing runoff. Too much runoff can cause flooding of streams and lakes. #apeswater@franklinlorax
There are things you can do at home to increase supplies of freshwater! You can change your personal habits... Today, when I washed my dishes, I made sure to turn the water off when it wasn't needed. This conserves so much water. @franklinlorax#apeswater
